Having beaten NZ and India in recent T20 series, England lost to Australia in a warm up game, but then beat India again today
It feels as though England are in good shape heading into this tournament, but Australia will surely be favourites despite exiting at the SF stage over the last couple of tournaments

Hadn't realised this wasn't on Foxtel...apparently Prime Video here in Aus... so didn't watch any of it yet. Might catch a replay later but looks like a rather overwhelming win - and a bit of a mismatch ? Guess you can only beat what is in front of you and DWH will surely take a lot of confidence from this after a couple of low scores in the warm-ups. All up an ideal start for the hosts even if few batters got to tune up in the middle...

NZ did well to get to 162 from where they were, but they've now dropped Mathews twice and she seems to be going through the gears now

Scotland beat Ireland earlier, with Durham's Katherine Fraser picking up 3 wickets.
between them, though, Notts' Bryce sisters scored 109 runs, took 2 wickets, a catch, a stumping and 2 run outs, so no prizes for working out who Scotland will be relying on during this comp

goodness me
Mathews dropped on 9, 21 and 42.... made 48
Campbelle missed stumping on 18, dropped on 26 and 44... won the game with 90
Dottin dropped on 3.... holed out soon after
dreadful fielding.... NZ threw it away
WIndies win by 7 wickets with a ball to spare

Australia thumped SA earlier
SA were quietly fancied to do well in this, so Aus will be delighted to see them off so comprehensively. The pressure will now shift to India to do the same. At the group stage there can be only two!

Now that we've made a winning start, I will appear here (and you watch me quote myself very soon).
Good, very good. Nothing is a given these days.

England Ireland has already been delayed by half an hour
less than ideal for England who will be looking to take another statement win
seemingly the covers are off, there's a pitch inspection due, and no overs will be lost if the game gets underway before 7.30
