My first thought too. Their actions were so over the top.

This leads me to think that perhaps the Pakistani players involved were overtly revealing what they were asked to do.

It has to be overt. If it is too close the umpire might be asleep and miss it. Ah, maybe there is some mistake... <headinthesandsmiley>

Amir, you dumb grommet. :( Asif should already have been out of the game, but the Kid has a clean slate. I bet he is 21 as well.

It maybe explains why yesterday Mohammed Amir failed to pick up the ball and didnt play a shot yesterday. Maybe the whole complaints about not seeing the ball where an attempt to cover a blatent way to get out on purpose?

It makes you question EVERYTHING !!, looking at some of Umar Akmals dismissals blasting a quick 20 and then getting out - is that genuine ?? or was he asked to score fast and get less than 30 ??

This is a dark day for cricket !!

Well Mohammed Amir collected his Man of the Series award with a very sheepish look.

Mobile phones have been confiscated....

http://www.cricinfo.com/england-v-pakis ... 74952.html

'Yawar Saeed, the team manager, confirmed that phones had been removed. "Telephones yes, only these three gentlemen. The police have taken their mobile phones away," he said. "The skipper [Butt], and Asif and the third one was Mohammed Aamer". Pakistan lost the Test on Sunday by a record margin and after the match Butt rejected the idea of stepping down from the captaincy. "These are just allegations, anyone can say anything about anyone, that doesn't make them true," he said.'

I think Salman's position is untenable - he has to step down as captain, and IMHO, Pakistan should be looking for three replacements for their ODI side.

All three deserve to be treated as innocent, until the full investigation and its findings have been carried out.

Ian Chappell raises a very pertinent question (the point of which almost everyone else seems to have missed so far):
If a newspaper can do this, then what have the ICC and its anti-corruption body been doing? In some ways, I am glad it's come out, because it's got to be fixed. If there was a will to fix this problem, it would not have got this far.

The weakness of what Chappell says is illustrated by the fact that virtually every country in the world has a police force, but there's still plenty of crime...

If the ICC or its corruption outfit had carried out that investigation the way the NOTW had, they would be guilty of entrapment and those responsible would have walked free.

So its not really a very good point, its very naive

Did Trotty and Broad score their world record partnership because there was some kind of spot bet planned for day 4? Getting England out for 150/160 couldn't have guaranteed that the match would still be on by day 4, especially given the way Pakistan bat.
