Actually gayle got more chance of winning, he only needs to prove that the newspaper didn't report what was the truth, and that the claim affected him and his potential earnings and that their didn't go through the correct procedure.

the fact the papers wasn't sure doesn't sound good for them.

more news Watson saying didn't surprise him.
I have played against Chris for a long time, since I started really, and that behaviour is fairly expected.
It is well known in the game that Gayle has continually got under the skin of rival players.

The Daily Telegraph understands an incident took place at a Kings Cross nightclub at the start of 2014. The Australian Test players had just clinched a 5-0 Ashes whitewash and arrived at the same venue where Gayle was partying with some Thunder teammates.

Tensions started to run high before a prominent NRL star offered to settle any issues with Gayle on the spot.

Maybe so. But isn't what they reported - that this woman alleged such and such - the truth?

Anyway, assuming that you are correct, it is bound to be a pyrrhic victory for Gayle as surely his character will blackened by all of the witnesses SMH are likely to call who will claim harrassment from Gayle. What what two femaile sports journos had to say within hours after the interview, SMH would have no problems in Aus alone.

When I think of WI cricketers suing Aussie newspapers, I remember this case....

http://www.crikey.com.au/2002/04/03/the ... australia/

"Clive Lloyd: The former West Indian captain collected $100,000 from The Age in 1984 after a stringer wrote a column under the headline “C’mon Dollar C’mon” suggesting World Series Cricket games were fixed. All his team mates lined up for big settlement after the jury decision was upheld by the Privy Council in London."

I find this follow-up article by the SMH offensive....

It is cringeworthy, and then some.

But that is exactly the author's plan. He aimed it to be offensive, to illustrate his point. I'll cede him that.

I didn't enjoy the article though. I think it was poorly done.

'Gayle was scathing about the criticism he had received.

"To the MEDIA, Thank You all so! The Haters, I Thank you even more ... I think a lot of past and present cricketers who smile in front my face could've have there say In the public when my so call issue was going on, but y'all don't have the BALLs to stand firm when it matters - but yet when u see me you're like, Chris that's BS against you, it was blown out of proportion smh [shaking my head]...don't tell me, tell the media and public!

"The past cricketer who say I make myself look like a chop, the other who claim I was no good to the youngsters while playing for the thunder, the next one who said he expect that sort of behavior from Chris - Y'all can kiss my 'Black Rass' I love Australia and I will be back again even for the ... oi oi".'

Rogers, Flintoff and Watson can kiss Gayle's....

Has that lady interviewed Gayle again since the controversial incident?

So Gayle obviously now understands why that incident caused such a fuss, and he regrets treating "that lady" with no respect?

Good to see.

As Cricket Australia continues to grow the game in Australia it has decided it has no place for a misogynist like Gayle. This summer they have televised woman's cricket as they look to increase support and participation in the game. They had to be seen to do something about what Gayle did and i applaud what they have done.

It appears Gayle still does not understand, and thus probably never will. Cricket in Australia will be so much better off with out Gayles attitude.

Gayle is a huge draw to crowds and one of the best T20 batsmen on the planet. I doubt CA have the ability, or the moral fibre, to stop him playing in the BBL next year.

I don't see that matters. Is Gayle isn't there, someone else can be hyped into that part.

It will be interesting to see. I am not as doubtful as you, MS, but I can understand your sceptimism.

Whether or not Gayle is already contracted for next season could have a lot of sway.

"Gayle will return to Somerset for a six-match stint in the NatWest T20 Blast during June. It will bring him back to a club where Chris Rogers, who was outspoken in his criticism of Gayle following the BBL controversy involving his TV interview with Mel McLaughlin, is the County Championship captain although Rogers will not be involved in the T20 matches. Jim Allenby will captain the T20 side."

A interesting article about another Gayle interview here with a female journalist.

http://www.watoday.com.au/sport/cricket ... p0kxy.html

Imagine the outcry if an international footballer spoke to a female reporter like this?
