WICB could be sued up to $10 Million with BCCI losing $31 million for the cancelled tour.
Pringle mentioned England were approached to replace West indies as well.

In other news Pringle is a terrible writer not sure why he was taking digs at BCCI and West indies players here.
Not sure it is that petty for BCCI to get Compensation here especially with Star being in their case for wanting more games in india.
to put this into perspective since 2013 march-April only Australia and West indies have came to india and in total only 6 Test and 15 odi and couple of T20.
so essentially in 2 and half years india have only had one English summer of games ( counting the period to the next tours of Sri Lanka/SA next October time)
This is really crazy when you consider boards mainly get money from hosting games.

Not sure why he is also taking digs at the rich West indies IPL players since if the big cuts is true this would affect the young and non IPL players the most since they are losing most of the money and don't really have other incomes.
To be fair Bravo and the rest need to be applaud they could easily not do anything because of the IPL and other income streams and protect those incomes instead they are making a case and protecting newer players and players that don't get the same amount of exposure in IPL or other leagues.

the fact BCCI told the players it would pay the difference must have really pissed them off, the players should have continued to play and do some sort of black armband protest or cover sponsors logos and miss the SA tour instead, this could have serious consequences to all of WI cricket it might even cost WICB triple amount that BCCI lost here and players might not even get to play in the IPL in the future.

They will easily be able to find 15 players wanting to play for their country at a WC, even if for free.

"International cricket has been plunged into crisis by the row over pay between the West Indies players and their board which has led to the abrupt termination of their tour of India. There are now doubts over the West Indies team’s next series in South Africa, their participation in the World Cup early next year, and even their future in Test cricket – which would directly impact on England, who are due to play a three-match series in the Caribbean next spring....That would be in addition to any legal action they take against the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) for this abandonment, which has been estimated to cost India up to £31m in sponsorship and broadcasting rights."

Some might say this would be a blessing in disguise...if the BCCI are to sue the WICB for £31m, which they can't pay, they would then have to file bankruptcy, and be wound up. That would then leave the way open for the nations of the Caribbean to go their separate ways....

If the nations of the Caribbean went their seperate ways, surely none would get test status?

Nope, but im sure they would have the time of their lives playing Ireland and Scotland all year round.

Its an AWFUL idea to separate them.

*modded* BCCI are claiming US$65 million and if west indies have to pay that then they are pretty much bankrupt since they only earn $28 million dollers a year.

BCCI apparently earn more money hosting one test then West Indies earn in a year.

Is there any chance that the WICB and WIPA could sort out the mess within 10 days and the West Indies team go back for the 1st Test on Oct 30?

'The BCCI is likely to claim damages of at least Rs 400 crore (US$65 million approx) from the WICB for West Indies having pulled out of the tour to India. The BCCI's working committee will decide whether to go ahead with the claim at a meeting on October 21 in Hyderabad. West Indies had agreed to play five ODIs, a Twenty20 and three Tests in India, but pulled out after the fourth ODI, in Dharamsala, due to the players being displeased over a revision to their payment structure. This meant that the BCCI lost out on revenue for 17 match-days. Though Sri Lanka agreed to fill in for West Indies and play five ODIs in India in November, the BCCI will still lose income for 12 match-days for the 2014-15 season. The BCCI is likely to claim those damages from the WICB. "We have referred the matter to our legal cell and asked them to let us know by 21st about how we can pursue the issue legally," BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel told ESPNcricinfo, declining to elaborate on the numbers since he said they were still being computed. "They [WICB] entered into a bilateral agreement with us, and they abandoned the tour due to their internal issues, so we will have to seek compensation. But, depending on the legal advice, the working committee will decide the future course of action." '

http://www.espncricinfo.com/india-v-wes ... 90375.html

If the BCCI chooses to bankrupt the WICB, and refuses to play against the West Indies in future, then what other option is there but to split up? The ball is in the BCCI's court, and if they pursue this, then I for one will be all for winding up the WICB. What else can be done, once the WICB is bankrupted?

Jamaica, Guyana, Barbados and Trinidad can play through the ranks of the ICC tournaments, and reached the top rung in two years' time. As we've seen from the recent tour of Ireland, all four of those territories are stronger than Ireland, and beat them recently.

West Indies cricket would not die even if the split did take place. It would all depend on the talent in the respective islands. Barbados have had teams in the past which would have competed very well in Test cricket.

It is; a sad state of affaires and I hope they remain as the West Indies.

They might have to dissolve the WICB and form a new body.

As I said in a previous post, India are the wrong guys to do this to.
