Err no, he is a TERRIBLE bowler in those conditions. Jadeja can at least hold an end up and he is a decent batsman in this format unlike Ashwin. The less said about the comparison between their fielding, the better. Its a no brainer. Jadeja isn't great and I see Akshar Patel as a better long term prospect myself but he is an infinitely better limited overs cricketer than Ashwin in any conditions. Ashwin is a joke in overseas conditions, I honestly don't get this hype that you build around him.

Their continued selection epitomises the depths to which India's spin stocks have fallen. Shame someone like Murali Kartik was born in the wrong era.

Red Devil wrote:a great knock from Rohit today breaking all the records, but I'm going to be a bit controversial and say that I still prefer Rahane to open. When Rohit opens he tends to start very slowly, which is fine if he stays in because he accelerates well later in his innings - but if he gets out it gives us a problem and means the new batter is under big pressure.
So i'd stick with Dhawan, Rahane, Kohli, Rohit, Raina, Dhoni
I think when he comes in down the order he can still accelerate the innings, much more than Rahane would batting at that position. For me, Rohit only opens if Dhawan struggles in Aus. If Kohli wants to bat 4 then Rohit or Rahane at 3 may be an option.

Ashwin's test record as an all-rounder speaks for itself really. He'a almost worth his place in the side as a batter, and his bowling has been successful - at least in home conditions
