I know the old adage is don't change a winning team but Usman Ghani not being in this Afghanistan squad is a travesty.

I see Mohammad Nabi has been acquired by an IPL franchise, the first Afghani to gain a contract in that competition.

Probably not many associated have played in IPL.

A home fixture for Afghanistan is being played in Greater Noida. Had to look this up, and it's 30km from New Delhi. An interesting game because the visitors are Ireland, so a top of the table associates clash. Ireland are leading the Intercontinental Cup which is expected to lead to possible Test status, with Afghanistan second. But expect changes there and much backtracking and blue sky thinking in 5 star hotels with conferencing facilities. Before the four day game though there are 3 T20s and five ODIs...

T20 today. Ireland win the toss and bat. Boyd is injured.

150 was reckoned to be a par score at the start, and Ireland should at least get that.

Ireland very unlucky to lose to Afghanistan today. 65/2 in 6.1 overs (chasing 184) when it rained for 1 and a half hours. Despite going way over the cut off, the match resumed with Ireland needing 46 off 29 balls. They then had a shocking collapse of 7/14, Rashid Khan taking 5/3!!

Rashid Khan's 5-3 in 2 overs beats Umar Gul's 5-6 in 2.2 overs for most devasting spell with the ball in T20 cricket.
