Nice to see Boyd Rankin having a good day against UAE.

Lot of Ireland's side looking very promising.

O'Brien and Stirling back on form at the same time is key and Wilson offers something in the middle.

The bowling in this tournament has been a revelation for Ireland. Return of Boyd, discovery of Mulder and Dockrell and McBrine backing them up.

Despite losing, Ireland did very well to get to the finals.

Boyd is a very good county pacer, Dockrell wasn't good enough to get a spinners bearth in County Cricket, and England don't have decent spinners to start with. McBrine averages over 45 in ODIs - bear in mind the standard of side Ireland play most of their ODIs agains - and Mulder has played less than 10 games at recognised level in his entire career outside of the micky mouse provincial cup.

A revelation? Pull the other one.

This side isn't promising, since Joyce quit they don't have a decent batsman in the side, their bowling as noted above is pretty poor, can we just stop this fantasy about Irish cricket at some stage?

Have Ireland actually produced a single decent player in the last 5 years?

All their regulars have been around for like 10 years.

Since Ireland have started focusing on bringing in players from the Provincial competitions instead of County Cricket, the standard of their players has gone down.

not suprised...i highly doubt the standard of Irish domestic cricket is any good...i know that sounds harsh, but it appears to be true

From what I understand there are 3 major competitions in Ireland: The three day Inter-Provincial Championship which consists of 3 teams and 6 games in total, a 50 over cup again with 3 teams and a T20 trophy which is the same as before in terms of teams.

The players playing in this by and large, have only played in Provincial cricket and a few have played in the ICC tournaments. It's a bit of a joke really.

Really enjoyed the Desert T20 Cup and the preceding ODI series in Dubai.

There should be more Associate only competitions. It's the only way they will develop.

If only the ICC gave them more funding so they could actually organise more series...

Didn't someone make 190 odd and end up on the losing side, I want to say it was for Zimbabwe but short of looking it up I can't remember who.

Charles Coventry got 190 odd before,

Tendulkar lost twice when scoring 150 odd against australia both times I believe india choked when he was dismissed, essentially those two innings and the innings against pakistan in the test are used as an example when people say he couldn't finish games off.

Just watched the highlights of the Hong Kong v Netherlands game.

Both sides would give Zimbabwe a run for their money.
