I feel that once Afghanistan and Ireland join the Test playing nations UAE will be next in line - not due to the quality of their cricket, this was their first win in a four day game since 2013, but due to their potential fan base/untapped market for the ICC.

ICC have always wanted Nepal to progress for the same reason. Nepal were only included in the ICC WCL Championship because of their huge fan base.

Canada and Oman will contest the division 3 final, with both teams progressing to division 2 next year. The USA and Singapore will play off for third, with Uganda and Malaysia both being relegated to division 4. Oman's rise has been impressive, as they have secured their third promotion in a row. With all the effort that has gone into US cricket, I would have thought they'd have performed better than they did. With the problems they're having off the field, perhaps staying in division 3 might not be a bad thing for them, for now.

Interesting move from USA cricket that can be viewed in two different ways.

They have delayed the vote to reform their governing body as all clubs, leagues and interested parties undertake a second round of vetting.

The article below suggests a range of legitimate accidents that could have occurred but also hints at some skulduggery. After the collapse of the last governing body you could see this as being a hugely laudable act but also shows that there are some nefarious do-badders that are trying to derail cricket's next big frontier.

Also states that there are 5,469 Individual Members, 168 Clubs and 24 Leagues who have registered which sounds hugely promising.

Looking at the football WC, if FIFA took their cue from the ICC, they would restrict their competition to teams from Europe and South America.

2023 WC will feature 10 sides, same as the one next year. Absolutely no progress being made by associate nations.

Even two of Ireland, Afghnistan and Zimbabwe won't be there.

Bit of a ding dong going on low down the T20 rankings.

59th placed Vanuatu, coached by the above Clint McKay, are touring 35th placed Malaysia and are having the rub of the green, however the home side got back in it in the third game today which brings the series to 2-1 with 2 more games to play.

Today's Malaysian victory was largely down to Muhammad Wafiq who got 3 wickets for just 10 runs in his 4 overs. This is just his third international game.

The 4th game is tomorrow.

What is Clint McKay doing as Vanuatu coach, that seems a really bizarre step for him to take.

I know someone in Belgium who lived in the French pacific as a child, and said in a lot of islands in the pacific, "cricket" as they call it was the national sport. But what he described was more like "french cricket" as we used to call it in school, where you are surrounded by people and cant move your feet, and have to defend your legs with a bat.

Said all the local tribes were addicted to it. Wonder if we will see that passion manifest itself with pacific islands coming onto the radar.

The Netherlands were absolutely humiliated against Oman today in a five team competition in Al Amerat.

They were skittled out for 94 thanks to amazing figures of 3-0-7-4 from Zeeshan Maqsood – a target Oman managed to overhaul in 15 overs.

At one point the Netherlands were 71-2 before losing 8 wickets in 39 balls.

Oman have now beaten the Netherlands, Hong Kong and Ireland in the last 5 days.
