Ridiculously one sided game between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan.

What a gutsy side Zimbabwe were in the time of the Flowers and Goodwin and Streak etc.

Overton has been called up into the England ODI squad in NZ to cover for the injured Liam Plunkett.

Its hard how Graves can justify any of these actions. He has narrowed the competition for international matches to Yorkshire despite there quite horrendous test match attendances of recent times, and he has included Yorkshire as one of the host of the T20 Franchise.

And we know how this ends, because international hosts and T20 franchise hosts are basically going to be the only fish left in the county pond by 2022.

Trialing the use of the Duke's ball in current Sheffield Shield with a view to it replacing the kookaburra in all Aussie red ball cricket in Australia. Would significantly affect Ashes cricket if adopted.
ICC also trialing a white dukes ball in forthcoming W.Indies v England Lions series with a view to adoption in all white ball cricket in attempt to get better balance between bat and ball.

Maybe Yorkshire got a decent amount of internationals is because Headingley got top marks for customer experience and the wicket, not to mention 56,005 attending last years Windies test, along with good advanced sales for forthcoming internationals. The India ODI is already sold out, 1st 3 days of the Pakistan test on course to be sold out.

I find the below quote laughable

"And did he excuse himself from the room during all the meetings that decided the new T20 competition was to involve eight teams based at the largest eight venues? Because the decision to include Yorkshire - who have failed to exploit the growth of T20 as well as several domestic rivals - guarantees them an income and power that might, once again, reasonably be argued to help them meet their financial commitments."

T20 Blast crowds have grown significantly in the last five years, last years Blast average attendance was 9,200. Domestic ticket sales (not including memberships) and hospitality revenue have risen from £500,000 to just under £1.1 Million in the same period. There is a possibility of sell out crowds in other Blast matches.

Then there is producing players for the England team, as well as club cricket in Yorkshire still going strong. Maybe the above reasons are why Yorkshire got a good allocation of international matches along with Headingley being a City T20 venue.
"Stats are there to be broken" Dominic Cork
"They took all our players away, banned our captain and we still came away with a ten-wicket victory" Jason Gillespie
"You won't get anywhere slouching about half out of bed" Geoffrey Boycott

Former test opener, Hairy Ed Cowan, has announced his retirement from first class cricket. "So NSW can develop the next Steve Smith" he says.

Cowan averaged 74 for NSW last season, but that halved to 37 this season.

Never the most gifted of cricketers, he was someone who got the most out of themselves. I imagine he retires satisfied with his career.

scored 10,000 runs... no mean feat. I've always liked him. Perhaps his treatment by NSW, missing out on the first few shield matches despite being last years leading run scorer, helped him make the decision.... he isn't even going to bother seeing the season out. If it had been me being shafted by NSW, I'd have done the same thing

I wonder if he can come over here and play for Durham?

The player in question is 30.... :lmao

Somehow I am left thinking that, at that age, if you cant beat Ed Cowan for the last spot in a state squad, you arent likely to become the best batter in the world.
