Well. There's often a moment when you get what you want and you start to feel guilty. Happens all the time.

Boycott was a great England batter, a fine coach by reputation, and a flawed man. He was even a good commentator once.

But he was allowed to continue by the BBC to a point where he went beyond caricature and became a little freakish. Even to the point of indignity.

For his sake and mine, it's a long way past overdue.

The tv commentators are Isa Guha who will present, and Michael Vaughan, Alastair Cook, Carlos Brathwaite, Phil Tufnell and Alison Mitchell which is a more substantial team than C5 had.

Prior to this, Guha will present a four part clip show looking back on previous series between WI and England.

BBC have missed a trick by not having David Gower as presenter/commentator, too many personalities in that commentary team and not enough experience.

Good idea. I suppose all the ones they have are already on the payroll though (except the overseas). DIG might not come cheap. And having a female anchor covers them from press criticism that they are too weighted to men.

Elizabeth Ammon is a far better option if the BBC want female representation. IIRC she once anchored Finals Day of Kia Women's Super League and has plenty of cricket knowledge to boot being a journalist. Or even offer Izzy Westbury a promotion to TV based coverage, she has the experience by doing County Cricket commentary on BBC Radio.

Isa Guha offers very little, other than a poor imitation of Bill Lawry whenever a wicket has fallen. Her cricketing knowledge non existent and was unbearable in the Cricket World Cup Final. You could hear the resentment in her voice, often referring to it as the "Men's World Cup Final" and because a special group of players were on the verge of making history. Though for balance, there are Ex England cricketers who are also resentful towards the current team.

The rerun of the 1984 Lord's Test today on BBC didn't augur well for the presentation. The producer rounded up a bag of cliches which were out of date ten years ago. Close ups of the presenter's hands. Meaningless profile shots. Maximum wobble. Someone should have a word.

I just don't get the latest trend for profile shots. I don't understand why anyone thinks it's a good idea. If someone is talking to you, then they should be looking at you, not at somewhere else, otherwise it's just rude

Ms Ammon was dreadful when doing commentary on Durham games showing a dreadful lack of knowledge and preparation. BBC were always going to go for a female presenter in keeping with their PC image and Ms Guha is by far the best imo. She's knowledgeable, well spoken and presentable -what's not to like? Can't say I've seen any evidence of a feminist streak.
Got the impression that in his latter years on Sky Gower had lost interest and enthusiasm, tired himself as were viewers of him.

Maybe someone did. There was none of this for the second programme.

When Isa Guha often refers to last years World Cup Finalas "Mens" whilst other commentators don't use gender, that to me is a sign of a feminist streak. Flagship events are always known as "the".

IMO Mel Jones is the best presenter and commentator by far, she is a natural in engaging an audience and conducting a player interview. In a Blast match last year (think it was a Quarter Final) Tom Banton looked at ease in Mel's company after putting on a man of the match performance, whilst other presenters would be hyping up his performances and ability.

Eoin Morgan to get a permanent job on SKY. I don't want to hear him talking about Tests or talking at all. Come back Rob Key or even Gower.

SKY have been waiting about 5 years for Broad and probably would have had him after Strauss played selector in the WI series.
