Who's your favourite commentator?

What's buzzing in the world of cricket....

I pretty much like all of the TMS team - in the summer I was listening to Boycott having a go at Aggers and actually it was one of the first times that I have enjoyed listening to Boycs. For once he was speaking sense re: Bell run out. However, if there is anyone I don't like on TMS it must be Aggers and his journalism on the Beeb website is far worse... I also enjoy Blofeld as he is completely different to anything else on the air and it can be quite easy to just be dragged along by him!

On Sky I don't mind a bit of Bumble but can't really stand Nasser Hussain. But of all time I don't think it can be anyone else but Mr. Benaud...

The one and only John Arlott on radio and probably Richie Benaud on TV . Bumble is good but the other two stuck to the game .

Theo Doropolous has started commentating for ABC radio full time since he was Mickyed. He is surprisingly good to listen to.

He used to do interviews about the cricket on the local Perth radio stations and he was pretty funny, sort of laid back but with reasonably acute observations. Better commentator than player.

I haven't heard anyone worse than Dermot Reeve and Matthew Hoggard. Just dreadful!

The gracious Jim Maxwell is always a pleasure. And of course, though he did the job only rarely, Rod marsh was worth listening to.

In fact, I think O'Keefe is the only Aussie commentator I can't listen to. After all, Peter Roebuck is our fault.

Nick Knight seems to wind up the other commentators. Appears to be in touch with the modern game in a way others are not, but has no gift for expression. Few have though. At least, not a knee jerker.

Nick Knight never gives a proper answer when any of the others ask him a question.

NK is overwhelmed by the factors on either side of the argument; he suffers in introverted doubt over the minor and major issues of the game. Words like 'yes, but', and 'on the other hand' beat ominously through his commentary like the heavy drums at a Viking's funeral.

Doesn't always look like he believes in what he's saying. Or that he nervously thinks he's going to get a shoeing. Does that thing with his mouth that you do when you lie.

I don't mind him though. Doesn't get my goat, like Botham, or the pureed obviousisms of Gower.

I just read my comment and was shocked.I actually meant to put Harsha Bhogle in the best category but probably dragged the curser and put him in the worst category :d'oh:
