Bumble not a happy bunny today.
Too much is being made out of the used pitch, just because england loss.
I highly doubt a pitch that only been used for 100 overs before the game, will be so tired and way slower than a fresh pitch would be.
most likely even a fresh pitch would have played the exactly same way.

A more challenging surface is allowed. A tournament should test a range of skills and examine the versatility of the side anyway. Lloyd was fond of excuses when he was England manager, and he still is.

Still, he's not involved in any capacity with the competition, so he's entitled to his opinion, which is easily ignored!

true he is allowed his opinion.
suspect he will be losing fans in pakistan though.
which makes it more likely that he won't be commentating overseas or in ICC events.

Not much of an excuse for crashing out- the pitch wasn't a road.

yeah bit disappointed excuses was made, like nasser said in the morning, England knew that in ICC events, used pitches are used and you can get a variety of pitches.
england should have been more prepared for it.

Bumble is not the only pundit to display his frustration, Mark Butcher is also not happy with the ICC of having a used pitch for the semi-final.

They have a point when only 4 matches are hosted at each venue, also when warm-up matches have been played on end wickets with a 42m boundary.

Love him or hate him, he's a unique character, and his descriptions of pigeons, cakes, buses and planes represented one of the sounds of the summer for many generations of TMS viewers.

Unaccountably popular TMS commentator Geoff Boycott is in the news again for unsavoury remarks made away from the box.

Boycott, incredulous at being overlooked for a knighthood, suggested it may be because he wasn't extended the advantages of being born a black sportsman.

Mine’s (knighthood) been turned down twice. I’d better black me face.

The Yorkshireman didn't make it clear which black cricketers may have been the benefit of possible affirmative action. Viv? Curtly? Sobers?

Boycott has apologised for his comment.

Why should Boycott even think a knighthood is justified in his case? The only English cricketing Sir of my lifetime is Botham and he got his partly (mostly?) for his charity work.

Boycott wasn't a model cricketer off or on the field. He was a fine opening bat, but if we're just considering onfield excellence, then I nominate: Graham Thorpe, Kevin Pietersen, Graham Swann, James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Bob Willis, Derek Underwood, Alan Knott and Alastair Cook.

Quite apart from my (possibly prejudiced) gut reaction that anyone who thinks he merits being called Sir Whatever is probably a bit of an arse.

Not sure how they can allow people like him and bumble on the comm box.
Although boycott is quite funny on how pro England he is and then critises them when they lose or play *modded*.
Bumble on the other hand is annoying as hell, can never be wrong and he can never critise England even if they are *modded* and it crazy how badly he hates Asian/ Indian cricket.

What an idiot! I'm one of those who inexplicably quotes what he has to say.

Apparently he didn't realise Richards and ambrose got their knighthoods from the Antigua and Barbuda government.

Must have been really hard being a white guy in England during Boycott's day.

I do get his point though..... the way he apparently beat up his wife in France, he maybe does need to be recognized for his contributions to boxing.
