England had an issue with injured batsmen in 2001 as well. I would say not only have I not seen a situation as bad as this for England, but certainly in my time, I don't think that I have ever seen such a long list.

yep it hardly seemed like a game didnt go by when a batsman broke a finger/thumb, or a bowler pulled something.

I forgot to add the injury of Silverwood in Ashes 02/03. He came in as a replacement player, bowled 4 or 5 overs, got injured and flew back home :lmao

It's not just the national team though.

The Warriors have had an unbelievable number of injuries throughout the first half of the season. We've got about the fourth rank bowlers bowling most of the time. One of the Ryobi line-ups put out by the Warriors was out of this world. Even WA grade cricket fans on other sites didn't know a couple of the players.

Last year it was NSW, this year it's the Warriors. Queensland have had a lot of injuries as well.

The really sad injury is Tim Paine's though. Watching him play for Australia last year was a breath of fresh air compared to that headcase Haddin.

What gives me that absolute Pip is that so many of the young Aussies only can manage to play 1-2 games before they hurt themselves, miss at least 4-6 weeks, play another 1-2 game, hurt themselves again .. and so the cycle repeats ad infinitum!

They can't all be made of glass, the coaches and physios need to take a damn good look at themselves.

The disease may be about to spread to our batsmen. Ed Cowan needed treatment for a bad back during the 1st test, after a mere 5 hours of batting in the first innings. And Dave Warner was very ginger in the field in the second innings due to back soreness as well

We had a tour to Aus in the 90s where we had around 18 injuries ifr my memory doesnt fail me. At the time we got no sympathy and the injuries were called excuses by the Aussies. I maintain the same attitude now :D

And to be fair Johnson would still be playing now. The injuries have allowed them to stop playing the same old crappy players.

Haha..fair point.

I am actually odd for an Englishman...obviously England is my first team, but I support Australia next (generally). We were abject in the 90s, which is strange since we had 3 bowlers who averaged below 30 and some decent batsmen. We just could not do it as a team.

Appears Pattison is the latest into the hospital ward. Missing the rest of the series.

Stress fracture in his left foot.
