Starc is back again and has replaced Pattinson in the squad. :scared

I presume Harris will play and not Starc.

Perhaps if Christian had played this would not have happened.
Ian Bell: first England player to 10,000 Test runs.
Stuart Broad: first England player to 400 test wickets.

Pattinson bowled 14 overs and 23 in the second innings and would've bowled about the same in his other Tests. His workload hasn't been that heavy. He looks as strong as an ox and fit as a Mallee bull, but I guess an injury is still an injury. Having Dan Christian in the side, (in place of Mike Hussey  ) might not have made much difference in the overall sceme of things.

The injury is definately a set back, and a blow for the Aussies. Long-term, James Pattinson looks very promising. If he and Pat Cummins continue to develop and remain fit, Australia could have themselves a lethal bowling combination that could terrorize the cricket world for many years!

True about the workload in the last Test. I would like to know the length of the spells though. I remember when Broad started he was restricted to short spells (until he had a strope and demanded a proper spell in a Test in NZ).
Ian Bell: first England player to 10,000 Test runs.
Stuart Broad: first England player to 400 test wickets.

His spells are about average. Ben Hilfenhaus bowls longer spells, as did Pat Cummins. One area where the workload could be adjusted is with Nathan Lyon. He was never going to make much of an impact on the Indians, but he hasn't bowled nearly as often as the three seam bowlers in the team.

I think possibly that is top do with Clarks evolution as a captain. Knowing when to hold and when to twist etc. He sees wickets so bowls those bowlers.
Ian Bell: first England player to 10,000 Test runs.
Stuart Broad: first England player to 400 test wickets.

I think with Pattinsons injury, the Aussie selectors are not going to bowl him into the ground. He is young and they are going to make sure he fully recovers. In Harris they have a very good replacement, so why bowl the young quick into the ground? Let him develope, and fully recover from injuries when so young, as he is one for the future. This is a potential stress fracture, why continue to bowl him and make it worse when he needs rest.

It wouldn't surprise me to see the Oz bowling attack for Adelaide being; Ryan Harris, Trent Copland, Doug Bollinger/Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon. Siddle and Hilfenhaus will either be injured by then, or resting! :facepalm

You'll be 3-0 up anyway, might as well rest an injury prone attack.

in all honesty though apart from injuries happening, will be difficult for cummins to get back into side for time being..

hilfenhaus-in form of his life

Siddle -up to 7th in icc rankings and bowling extremely welll

Pattinson-brilliant form

obviously injuries permitting, but aussies have good fast bowling pool at the moment.
