Sounds like it. If those payments are deemed unlawful it will open a real can of worms especially as counties who were going to benefit have budgeted accordingly and spent money on new players.

The ECB has argued that the payment it made to Glamorgan was not compensation but a payment that allowed the Welsh county to come to an agreement with a creditor to reduce some of the debt they owe at a lower settlement.

He'll be on the hit list.
I also thought that Glamorgan deal sounded like a bailout!

Just shows how gormless FTECB are. Either Glamorgan receive sanctions or Durham points deduction is inconsistent. Only way to resolve this is to award Durham +48pts to start the season :party

He seems to have managed to unite the counties in opposition to him! The ones who were getting the extra cash and the ones who were not. Quite an achievement really.

Last sentence of article "The ECB declined to comment which is FTECB speak for "f.off-we'll do what we want".

"Let's be clear: Yorkshire are a terrific club. There is no fault of them implied or presumed. But most reasonable observers will acknowledge it is remarkable how almost every major decision made in English cricket over Graves' period in office has benefited them. And they may acknowledge, too, at least the possibility of the perception of a conflict of interest there. And while that is the case, the governance of the ECB has to be open to serious questions."

If Yorkshire have benefited from ECB decisions, then Jonny Bairstow would have played in the 2016 County Championship finale and Yorkshire would not have been subject losing Quater-Final home advantage in last years T20 Blast campaign, an ECB decision made mid-way through the competition when Yorkshire were firmly in the top two.

Both these decisions damaged the competitive element of cricket and Graves could have intervened there and then, but he didn't. Goes to show Dobell has an agenda and would discredit Yorkshire's recent international match and city franchise awards because Graves was once a chairman and his family are major creditors.
"Stats are there to be broken" Dominic Cork
"They took all our players away, banned our captain and we still came away with a ten-wicket victory" Jason Gillespie
"You won't get anywhere slouching about half out of bed" Geoffrey Boycott
