Yep. And that morning collapse was against an old ball. Archer , who we thought would be the big threat , had a quiet game.
I suppose the batting lineup is flimsy and Latham has been average at best - a few decent scores and Steel hasn't got going either. Smith too has had a few good scores but a lot of early dismissals. Pressure is constantly on that middle order but that can't be an excuse in the first innings collapse because they were in a decent position overnight.
Rimmington seems more than useful with the bat but very ordinary as a bowler.

And if last year is anything to go on , this pink ball game starting Monday is probably the worst possible scenario for an out of form/confidence batting lineup. Were we not 4 or 5 down for about 20 last time?
It'd be funny ( well not very!) if Warwickshire decided to have a toss and Colly won it and put them in! Another insertion followed by a huge score might be the final straw. No realistic chance of that because surely the visitors will bowl.

If Richardson is fit I think I'd leave out Clark and Pringle in for Coughlin?

Yep. McCarthy must not be involved as he's the other change in our squad with Josh Coughlin left out.

All depends how the pink ball behaves. Last week's 2 games suggest it's does a bit for about 10 overs then nothing. Bat like we did on Friday, though, and we'll be 6 down by then. McCarthy 's recent form hardly merits a recall.

Just looked at the card from last year and that's almost exactly what happened! We were 18/5 after 9.2 overs then 64/6 after 21.1 before the tail wagged and we ended with 197.
Worcestershire were 24/2 ( 6.2 overs) 59/3 after 9 ...and finished with 367. Hastings and Leach batted at 3 and 4 in an attempt to bash the ball around and get it to go soft- both out within half an hour but hit 2 4's and 2 6's between them.

Colly was hugely critical of the pink ball, if I remember correctly.

perhaps scathing would be a better word

We gave it poor reviews after the match yesterday. Just like last year.

If they're going to persist with it in future years, do it at a time of year where it does actually get dark before 9pm, and/or consider adding a fifth day. Scoring is too slow, and wickets are too hard to take.

Yep. Think John Hastings ( who was playing for Worcs ) was also very critical - Lewis said at the forum he doesn't like if either.
In fact I don't remember any positive feedback at all from around the circuit...so naturally FTECB continue with the experiment. Brilliant scheduling too to have these matches played when the sun doesn't set until after the close of play.

It actually would have been brilliant scheduling if they'd play as normal with a red ball with normal light. If bad natural light stops play then make up for it by starting earlier next day.
Offer entry after 4pm for £5 with accompanied kids free. Make a kill on refreshments etc with kids in.
