Three wins from four CC games is a nice start. But only a nice start.

But four wins from five games (over one-third of the season), that's a bit more than just a nice start; that's starting to think about the title. Especially when that fourth win would be against the side currently in third, and with the side currently in first not playing.

So it's not just the Lords final over the next seven days, it's also our four days in Gary Ballance Land.

Great news about Wood's unexpected return from injury (he wasn't even in the squad announced yesterday). But effectively what it means is that we've replaced Dawson with Fidel. Wood was already in this XI before his injury, alongside Dawson; Fidel wasn't. All Wood has done is reclaim the place he already had.

I've had serious reservations in the group stage about Berg as high at 7. Now we've got him at 6!

Surely bringing Taylor in for Dawson, with Wood coming in for Fidel, would have been a much more logical option? Stronger batting XI, and a second spin option.

I am interested to see if we promote Rilee up to 3, or if we slot Weatherley in there.

In an ideal world I'd have Rilee promoted up to 3 - we saw in the final last year what he can do at the top. But it would make us very top heavy. There's arguably value in splitting up Weatherley from that long (but capable) tail.

Wetherley said on commentary on Wednesday that Wood was expected to be fit. I was surprised that he wasn’t mentioned in squad and then wondered if it was to throw Somerset off?

Kevan Janes said it was Rossouw that wants to bat in middle order as well.

That was a predictably painful and useless innings from Weatherley.

Still, at least I came into this with very low expectations for us. Such a shame this wasn't scheduled for one week earlier.

Typical of the ECB to schedule what is suppose to be a showpiece final on the weekend where there are WC warm up games. A cynic would say they're trying to ruin it a year ahead of schedule.

To be honest, I'd have taken anything over 240 once we lost Rilee. Let alone once we were 180-8.

It's still a very poor score, and Somerset shouldn't fail to chase it. But at least it's something.

Pressure of a run chase in a final and Somerset have a habit of finishing second!

The decision to bat at the toss seemed stupid and even worse now.

Fidel was given a red ball deal and then picked in white ball games knowing full well he can’t control the thing.

Holland hit some shots on the IoW to set up a declaration yet we pick Wetherley who can’t hit it off the square

We were always going to lose today, but going down without a fight is inexcusable.

Double blow. Abbott injured, and Weatherley fit.

(How did we determine that it should be Donald to miss out, rather than Weatherley or Soames?!)
