lead of a hundred?

eek!

If Bedders goes early, we might not get a lead of 20 the way our lower order has batted recently

did Pretorius get his concussion from the Raine ball that nearly took his helmet off? If he did, why was he allowed to bat on and score 50, and if he was okay to bat on and score 50, why suddenly was he not okay to field? I thought there were concussion protocols in place to protect players. I thought a player's fitness to play was out of the hands of the players, captains and coaches and firmly in the hands of medical staff

we will never know what might have happened had the first match not been completely abandoned, but with 794 runs already he might have been looking at 1000 runs before the end of May

Only thing I can think of is it was delayed concussion. I think it must have been the Raine delivery that was responsible.
I know de Leede is currently on international duty but is there a case for him replacing Clark as and when he is available?

And gets those runs under pressure after the customary 2/3 early wickets. Robinson too. they score fluently as well - although if I was being critical Ollie's shot today that led to his dismissal was poor, a loose waft after almost getting out that way a couple of times.

Clarky will get a chance to free his arms starting next Friday. I think he will need to have a good Dribble or he may face the axe. We can't carry both him and Borthwick (3 fifties between them). Lees and Ackermann both underperforming too, but have at least got hundreds to their names

what I do find utterly ridiculous is that nobody in the whole of county cricket has even come close to hitting as many sixes as Bedders, and yet we're almost certainly going to drop him for the hit and giggle

makes no sense

Yes, it's a mystery why we deem him surplus to requirements in the Dribble. Aa you say it makes no sense.

Definitely our session, that one

All those extra runs from Raine and Siddle, followed by some pretty probing bowling. Siddle still looks quite quick

Makes the decision to leave him put of the last game - assuming he was fit - even more baffling than it seemed at the time. If he fancies another year I'd be happy to have him back.

Amazing session! Only downside is minus 2 overrate.
Winning by an innings before tea on day 2 takes some doing. Stokes looked unplayable during that spell.

I was sitting in the trapdoor stand this afternoon. The seats are quite comfy compared to the rest

I thought our bowling was terrific today, especially given the difficulties we've had in recent times to take wickets. We were asking questions of the batters all the time. There were hardly any freebies on offer and Somerset were never allowed to settle or build. Constant probing in really good areas and helped by the occasional ball keeping low. Stokes was excellent, Siddle and Coggers were tidy and gave nothing away and Raine eventually got the extra couple of late wickets that his bowling deserved.

When Leach fell, I was trying to think who the last bat was and couldn't come up with a name, then the screen flashed up that Banton was unable to bat.

Comprehensive win in 5 sessions. That was probably helped by the deluge on Wednesday. I know nothing about pitch preparation, but there was a hint of green, so I'm guessing that the shocking weather in the preceding two days may have prevented a final cut of the pitch. Is that how it works? Forecast is dreadful tomorrow and poor on Monday, so just as well that we were able to polish them off in 30 odd overs or whatever it was. The wicket of Rew summed up our bowling, for me. He was trying to leave as much as he could and try to pick off the bad ball that almost never came. So Stokes bowled a 4th stump line, ball after ball, which Rew dutifully left, then got the final ball a fraction tighter, Rew realised too late that this maybe wasn't a leave and was maybe a bit low, jammed his bat down at the last moment and nicked off. He just wasn't given any release shots at all. Abell had been pinned in his crease by Raine and Siddle, so tried to get forward and instantly nicked off. These were all well worked wickets. Somerset just didn't know what to do to get through it until the bowlers got tired or the ball went completely soft. Coggers kept rapping Gregory and Overton on the pads over and over again and had they not got out when they did, it felt to me as though it was only a matter of time before eventually the finger went up. Did well today, Coggers

Imagine my surprise when I arrived at the ground, having left home 9 down, to find we were still batting.... amazing!
