Even though there are 6 wickets left it's pretty hard to see them scoring another 50 runs! The bowlers are under no pressure and it feels like a wicket is liable to fall at anytime.
Can't really be too critical because they are battling away and maybe the conditions are incredibly difficult but they're going nowhere.
And as I type Trevaskis is out! 86/5.

I think someone needs to chance their arm here and try and play a few shots. Try and get a quick 20 or 30.

Off for bad light and rain. I think that'll be the close.

I was wondering how Lees and Eckersley would get on batting together, because both look as though they are perfectly happy patiently blocking until a bad ball comes along, whereas many of the others don't look comfortable at all doing that, almost as if prizing their wicket is not a part of their natural game.

Sadly I won't find out because Rampaul will lift one or both of them early tomorrow morning

unless the tail wags we will end up wishing we had another hundred runs to play with.......... again

It looks as though it's been tough going today, but if Derby bowled anything like as well as they did on day one, then I'm not at all surprised. I was very impressed with Derby's bowling on Monday

Excellent end to the day. 185 lead.
I left when they went off for bad light so not sure what happened - wonder if there was a rethink during the delay and they decided to be more proactive.

For a change we might have a decision to make in the morning. Will we chance going for a win? Personally I'd just bat normally until we are all out and see what we have to defend, rather than try to force something, either with a batting charge or a declaration

Not losing has to be the priority surely? We simply have to put an end to this losing streak

I think it was about 12 overs.

Yeah, I think so. Might get bowled out quickly if there's an early wicket but if not I think they should try and bat sensibly.
This isn't a prediction but I think the Derbyshire lineup is vulnerable so there's a chance of bowling them out in under a couple of sessions regardless of the target we set, but I definitely would not go looking for quick runs unless we get to lunch in a very strong position- highly unlikely!

highly unlikely indeed, but then again, I didn't expect us to bat for 2 sessions today and be only 5 down..... even with the weather and the light and stuff

when I saw the new scoreline, I assumed that Derby must have bowled Hughes, Critchley and Madsen again, but it seems we scored the runs against the front line seamers.

speaking of Madsen..... he hasn't shone in the match yet, so I'd be very wary of him tomorrow. He is a proven match winner, after all

Definitely. He also dropped Lees this afternoon. It'd be unusual to keep him quiet all game so chances are he will have a good day tomorrow with bat and/or ball.
I still can't work out why there was such a big change after the break - crawling along at under 2 an over for hours and then a quick 50 partnership. Eckersley continues to impress, not sure he should be batting at 7. He's got a frontline batsman with him in this innings but virtually every other time he's been batting with the tail with very few runs on the board.

I am of the opinion that unless your keeper is of the quality of Alec Stewart or Kumar Sangakkara, if he's batting higher than 7 then you don't have enough batsmen in the side

Yep. I think so too, 7 seems right for a keeper and I guess our problem is the supposedly specialist batsmen are not to be trusted!
