It's getting gloomy, floodlights on and Maddinson has gone for 90. I'd expect batting to be tricky now in these conditions with a newish ball but crucially the lead is 192.

Brightening up again. Just noticed there were no byes in the Sussex innings- a short innings but pretty impressive.

Jones falls just short, again. Capt Beaky too, next years skipper as well

this looks like another match that we surely must win..... surely?

I'd be tempted to declare before the close and get them back in. Weather forecast looks ideal for bowling tomorrow and if there were a few problems winkling them out and we had to bat again then the forecast for Friday looks good for batting. Good toss to win in this game

Yes! Definitely had the best of the conditions- yesterday a bowling day, today a batting one.
Trevaskis out as I type, lead though is 221 with 26 overs left.

push it to 280 as quick as poss and get them back in, for me. 10 overs at them tonight, or if the light is iffy, go 250 and get them in earlier

maybe it's as simple as picking up the 5th batting point and calling the players in

is it light meter dark? No point in declaring if the umpires take them off the field as soon as the new ball seamers come on

ah... it is that dark

oh well... good nights rest and at 'em in the morning. I'm guessing it wouldn't take too much of an improvement to get back out there in a bit to knock off the 2 runs

If that's it for the day, then I assume they'll bat on for an hour in the morning

Surely they'll have realised by now that batting on and on to some spurious magic number just takes time out of the game......(like half the matches we played in the Spring)
