50 for Abbott. Robson owes his team a drink.

Yep, shame about Carberry, but he has started the season well so I'm sure his first CC ton of the season will come sooner rather than later.

Apart from his wicket an excellent morning session.

How brilliant is it to be in a position, after years of poor four-day batting (since Pothas and Crawley?), that we're currently in a position where there is no absolutely stand-out candidate for Bailey to replace.

Problem could be even harder still, in Rilee misses out next week and Alsop comes in and scores runs himself.

Apart from maybe the failure to get the fourth batting point, there is nothing to criticise about this batting innings. We've played it pretty much perfectly. Dig in to parity, and then let loose. OK granted, we have the two guys who would most ideally want at the crease when letting loose, but nonetheless. We actually look a decent team this season!

Hopefully Berg and Abbott take the confidence from batting into their bowling and we'll win this

Indeed. Just a shame about Fidel. With him, the squeak gets slightly louder; just tell Fidel to run it at 100 miles an hour, and don't worry about leaking boundaries. But without him, all the reliance would be on Abbott if we were to pull off another great win.

It's also where you wouldn't mind having Crane rather than Wheal.

Oh it wasn't a criticism of Wheal. But to take 10 wickets in next to no time, for very little, against a side who will be looking to just block, you generally need someone to bowl a magic spell. And Crane, being a leg spinner, is probably better placed to bowl such a spell. Especially on the fourth day.
