I had planned to go down today, but if anything, it feels as cold as it did yesterday. Feels like 5 degrees according to my phone and unlike yesterday when it was supposed to warm up (it didn't) there's nothing anywhere to suggest any improvement any time soon

Durham signed 2 top order bats at the end of last season and are playing one of them at 7. They're doing that to accommodate Ben McKinney as the regular opening partner for Alex Lees. Now I think England have their eye on McKinney and it wouldn't surprise me if it turns out that Stokes has had a word with our management to give him a regular early season slot so they can have a decent look at him. After all he's only 20, he barely featured for us last season, but he has captained the England U19's and I think he played for the Lions over the winter

I really believe that if he can build on his 153 last week (got out early today, which will annoy him because Lees and Gay already have a 200 partnership going), then we will lose him to England when the test series start. I reckon they are looking for a Crawley replacement, or a Crawley incentive. Even the cricketer magazine had him as a cert to open for Durham in their preview and it hadn't even occurred to me, so maybe they picked up on this vibe before the season started..... and then perhaps Durham won't look quite so daft for bringing in 2 top order players whilst also shuffling out last year's captain to make room for them both

I might be way off the mark here, but I just have this feeling that McKinney will be opening with Duckett in the Zimbabwe test
