I don't know much about this young Gibson Lad but the last time we had an O Gibson playing for us he didn't do too badly.

I thought he was the best bowler in the Yorks warm-up game although I was talking to soneone yesterday who said he looked ordinary against Durham UCCE.

I was about to say there's no sign of a wicket and the pitch seems lifeless but Raine has broken the opening stand. 45/1.

hard work atm

need to get these two sooner rather than later. I think Azad scored big last week. In fact I think he saved them from certain defeat by just toughing it out and carrying his bat

Pitch looks very flat and it's the same problem- no real cutting edge in the seam bowling and Trevaskis doesn't look threatening. I suppose we're still in control given the lead but it looks as if it's going to be hard work taking another 18 wickets.

And hard work it remained. I watched the last 10 overs and the batters were under no pressure whatsoever.

The last spell from Raine was utter dross, which is unusual for him. He fired everything at leg stump and they just milked him away. He even came around the wicket to the left hander to make sure that the ball was still drifting onto the legs.

Good to see Treva giving the ball a bit of air, but these two were well set and were not going anywhere except for a well earned cuppa at the end of the day's play.

Lets hope for a better day tomorrow, because the attack looked toothless from the bit I saw

Yes, toothless is also the word I'd use. Need to get a couple of early wickets and that might change things.

It appears that we get only 2 extremes of pitches at the Riverside, either a seamer's paradise or a flat, dead pitch. Is it impossible for the groundsman to produce a wicket that provides an equal contest between bat and ball? No pleasure whatsoever watching yesterday's crawl.

I seem to recall that they are trying to make the pitch more spin friendly. I'm sure I read that somewhere last year. Did they not dig the square up again or did I make that up?

Given that we have no promising young spinners coming through the ranks, seem completely unwilling to invest in buying one in and we are often pretty hopeless batting against spin (the Chelmsford match last year being a case in point) this seems like an odd strategy to me

Yes, that would seem an odd strategy. Early wicket this morning for Potts, need a couple in quick succession.

Not sure, when I got there on day 1 he had already gone off so I don't know what type of injury it is.
