Hybrid pitch? Pity we couldn't have made some hybrid cricketers.

looking at the Haddin -v- Hick scorecard it looks reasonably likely that it won't go much into tomorrow. Will we get Bangers back for the Friday game, or will he have to go on a vitally important Aussie awards ceremony to celebrate it?

Depends when they finalize their Ashes squad which, I suspect, will be after the scheduled finish to to the current match. Doubt it he'll be back for us for Friday.

Presumably Aussies will pick 3 openers for the squad from the 4 in the current game. Assuming Warner is a cert. we'll have whoever is surplus for the remainder of the season. Simple.

Sounds good to me!

not sure how Worcs lost today. Losing appeared to be much harder than winning. It means Gloucs move to joint second and we drop to 5th

Worcs are having a terrible season.

Think they needed something like 70 runs with 6 wickets in hand.

I'm not so sure he is a cert. They will surely start with Warner and Burns as the incumbent pair. They have no need to name Bangers in their squad, because if they decide they need him they can call him up at a moments notice. If I was Australia I'd be naming my squad based on the starting XI and some of the players who wouldl otherwise jet off home, such as Pattinson

But then I usually get these things hopelessly wrong

I think Bangers will end up playing some part in the ashes series, if Australia get themselves behind in the series

They'll name 3 openers of which I'm fairly certain Bangers will be one. Problem is that the domestic program is exclusively T20 during the ashes series, not so sure that the Aussies would see that as a suitable preparation for their reserve opener.

worse preparation than carrying drinks?

hey, you might very well be right. FTECB might bung CA a few quid just to get him out of our team

as I said the other day, Bangers scoring heavily in a low scoring match was always going to be our worst case scenario

D'darcy Short could stand in for the CC game commencing 18th August and also the one commencing 10th September.
Bangers should be available for the final 2CC games.

he'd have to presumably, but it wouldn't help us in the Big Dribble.

am I right in thinking that we decided Latham wasn't available for some reason?
