Adair didn't last long. Need Steel to stay in and probably a decent partnership with Handscomb.
82/2 after 10 so 65 more needed from the second 10. I still think it's 50/50 and odds will massively shift to Yorkshire with one more wicket.

It's deja vu! Steel out quickly followed by Harte. And Clark is in now. 31 still needed and the required rate is going up. Handscomb out now!

24 needed from the last 3 and my money is firmly on Yorkshire.
And right on cue another wicket!

Must be some real turn out there, for Yorks to be bowling part-time spinners at this stage.

Batsmen can't get the spinners away, the 2's have dried up and every big shot has had predictable results!
The batting after the openers is almost unbelievably bad.
Another desperate shot now and naturally another wicket.
The question again is - why isn't Eckersley playing?

I don't think I've ever seen part time slow bowlers bowling at the death before, but if it's working why would you change it?

It was like going back to the pictures to watch the same film

Because it hadn't even occurred to me that on a bank holiday weekend we would be playing on Tuesday, I hadn't kept the evening clear of work. I'll be at work until at least 7pm and then I'll have a half hour drive home. I did think of giving the family a ring tomorrow to see if I can put it off until Wednesday, but I don't think I'll bother now. I can't face the thought of watching the same film for a 3rd time.

with no more cricket until the final CC game on 23rd Sept which I think is a Mon to Thurs game when I'm at work, that might very well have been the end of my season tonight

maybe I'll call in on Tues on my way home.... but only if we have batted first

which reminds me.... did Yorks win the toss and choose to bat? If I was playing a team with a reputation for choking in the run chase even against paltry totals, that's what I'd do

incidentally.... MOM spinner Jack Shutt is a 22 year old with 3 senior T20's under his belt before tonight

who knew he was a *modded* world beater? I'll bet he didn't

5-11

5 wickets for 11 runs and only the wicket of Stainless could be attributed to good bowling.... and even then the batsman glared at the umpire for ages before trudging off

I assume it was an lbw decision, but I can't check because crapinfo thinks we weren't playing tonight.... which suits me down to the ground tbh

I think I'll give Tuesday a miss! We won the toss and I was a little surprised we chose to bowl.

well that was a staggering decision. clearly they thought that lightning couldn't strike twice in the same place.

Stainless was given caught behind, so he presumably didn't think he'd touched it... at least not with the bat

I have to say that that was a really strange thing to do. Send out the new boy at a crucial part of the match (as it was against Worcs last week) with nothing more than some 2nd's T20 action and ask him to negotiate an international quality spinner in Maharaj. He was being turned inside out, tying to lay bat on ball... poor sod! welcome to Durham cricket son!

Speaking of strange decisions... Raine batted at 8, behind Carse, but didn't bowl... although we used to have Borthwick or Jennings batting at 10, so we have previous for picking batters and bringing them in after the bowlers have all holed out

Handscomb continues to show us that he is an accumulator at best in T20 and I continue to think that we'd be in a very different position if Bangers had returned after the Aussie A -v- B game

Dame D'Arcy has been less impressive with the ball in recent matches. Not sure why we keep bowling him for 4 overs, when 1 of Potts or Gandalf could have bowled out. We'd be getting our money's worth from his batting alone.

One off game, of course, and at a bad time, but Harte didn't impress in any way, shape or form tonight. Did we drop Jack the Lad or was he injured, and where was Lees?

Lees not playing- assuming he was not injured-seemed odd.

Funny thing tonight was my mate in the hospitality was there with a work colleague who is a casual cricket fan from a Yorkshire background so was supporting the opposition!
When I saw them at the end of the game he was flabbergasted by our capitulation. A reasonable response...from someone who had not been following our efforts.
I think it goes like this - the alarm bells start ringing when Short gets out, there's a feeling of imminent disaster when Steel gets out...and then it's 100 % guaranteed game over when Handscomb gets out. I keep banging on about it but it seems ridiculous not to have Eckersley playing.

Quite enjoyed my outing at Chester-Le-Street and would go again for another Blast match. A decent atmosphere and far more pleasant than visiting Old Trafford crowd wise. What I quite liked most was the inflatable cricket related games kids could play behind the stands, that's a crowd retainer there and then.

Surprised to learn it was a hybrid pitch, I thought it was a grubby surface with grass grown top curated by the Somerset groundsman who is on cover where 140 is a par total. Kohler-Cadmore and Leaning batted sensibly in the middle overs, very difficult to score off disciplined Durham bowling until Potts final over.

The two games i've seen Jack Shutt bowl he has been rather impressive, but to get a 5-fer and bowl every delivery bang on is something else. I suppose Kohler-Cadmore's captaincy of persisting with spin won Yorkshire the game, takes a load of balls to back Lyth and Leaning who are efficient bowling options in their own right. I was thinking get Willey and Thompson on for the death.
"Stats are there to be broken" Dominic Cork
"They took all our players away, banned our captain and we still came away with a ten-wicket victory" Jason Gillespie
"You won't get anywhere slouching about half out of bed" Geoffrey Boycott
