Yes. Unfortunately I think he is done. Has the central contract but is there any point in England returning to him? Even if he is fit for selection I'm not sure they would pick him given he has probably- at best - another year im him.

Another hundred for Gay

Another hundred for Bedders, but another 2 quick wickets after the fall of Gay. Clarky and Robbo continue their indifferent seasons, both averaging 20 with top scores in the early thirties. Robbo will be safe, but at some point Clarky might have to make way. I was thinking of Will Rhodes, but of course Stokesy comes in for the next game. They might decide not to rest Kasey Jones

I always assumed that he would be the one to make way for Stokes next week, just because they are both all rounders and Stokes is obviously better, but now I think it will be Clark

Unless, of course, we are thinking about the new like for like injury replacement rules. Some of the decisions have been so utterly ludicrous, that if Stokes was to pull up we might think there is no guarantee that we'd be allowed to bring on Clark. Although, given recent decisions about players being too experienced and too good to be brought on, not allowing anyone who bats or bowls seam to replace Stokes would have to take the biscuit, because everyone not in the first XI would be a lesser player than Stokes every time, in every way and in every dept

Still... this is cricket and the people who come up with these ideas are generally rather stupid

there were still the 8 additional overs to play tonight because of yesterday's early finish and we could have had 5 overs at them tonight.

Presumably we have decided to keep going and settle for the draw, which is probably sensible.

I too wondered if we could have declared after Aldridge's dismissal ( must be awful getting out on 99! ) but some useful runs added in the closing overs. Might have the opportunity to apply some pressure tomorrow although obviously the draw looks likely.
This run of awful form for Robinson is more perplexing by the week. I can't figure it out at all.

crapinfo describes Shetty as an all rounder who bowls spin. Hartley is a front line spinner who bats quite well sometimes, so I suppose the match ref deemed it as Lancs trying to replace a part time spinner with a full time one who has played at test level. A wk bat who bowls even more part time part time spin might have made sense had the opposition objected to Hartley, but I don't think they did.... although I might be getting mixed up with the match before where they were no objections to Bailey coming on, but he still wasn't allowed to because he bowled 5mph faster than the bloke he was to replace.
