for once, McCarthy isn't the most profligate of our attack....... but if he can work in short bursts and take wickets, then I can live with that. It's when he isn't taking wickets that it hurts us, because every run the opposition score against us, feels like 10 when we walk out to bat

Yep. He seems to be a useful strike bowler when he gets it right but our batting is so awful that a par score by the opposition is way too much for us. Maybe the batsmen will prove us wrong this afternoon but it'll be a miracle if they do.
