I take it the pitch is just flattening out more and more, that has to explain why Lancs are making a much better fist of achieving batting points than us.

If they get max and we don't take 3 wickets in the next 6 overs, we'll both be level on points if as is likely the game ends in a draw.

At least we stopped them getting 5 batting points and we should remain outside the relegation zone come end of play tomorrow.

Even if we have an utterly blistering first session, and score, say, 180 runs - which is highly unlikely with Vince out - our lead still won't be anywhere near enough to declare. 330 is the minimum I'd want to set a team over two sessions, not 285.

So it's a 90% draw. The only way we get a result is if we completely mess up the first session. And then it'll almost certainly be a Lancs win, unless they equally mess up the run chase.

For both of us, not losing is more important than winning (in that it denies the other team the 16 points). So I can't see us both agreeing to set something up in the morning.

1 win from 8 games (albeit 2 against Surrey). Not looking great.

Only a smattering of die hard cricket fans could be remotely interested in the proceedings at Old Trafford today!

And now Weatherley follows Roussow with his maiden first class hundred for Hants.

Much needed score for him.

Good stuff from Joe. Not much pressure, granted, but it's an important milestone.

One place higher up the table. Potential to close up on Essex (Somerset have flown out the blocks in their run chase).

Now on for Saturday!

Nine men looked nailed on for tomorrow. Seems to be a case of Wood v Topley, and Adams v Alsop, for the last two spots.

Yep. It's hard to get used to the mid-season final, even though it's been a while since it was played turn it still seems as if it belongs at the end of the season.

last 10 overs.... 8 wickets in hand.... need to go ballistic and get 350+, because Denly is in top batting form, probably as good as anybody in this tournament

Instead we're buggering it up big style, not unexpected as the middle order is extremely weak.

Thankfully got runs on the board early doors.
