It is. Sounds as if he could well cause havoc.
I wonder what was being the Poynter axing? I don't think any of us would have had him in against Derbyshire but it seems strange how he was the first choice keeper for the first game and then booted out for the second. Not that I'm complaining!Although Sod's law will probably lead to Eckersley bagging a pair.

Poytner was away with Ireland when Franklin arrived and also for the pre-season tour. Franklin was still in South Africa whilst Poytner scored 80 against the students. So he gave him the benefit of the doubt being the w/k at the end of last season. Fortunately he quickly realised his error.
Just watched Bancroft on LookNorth. Lad looked really nervous, genuinely contrite and determined to do well. Really hope he shuts up his detractors like Gough and Agnew with a boatload of runs.

So do I. I read the full comments by Gough and he says Franklin shouldn't have been appointed because he has no coaching experience. As you said about Bancroft - if no one without captaincy experience was given that job then there wouldn't be any captains at all. I wonder who was the last England captain who had previously captained their county? Strauss maybe and if it was him he probably only led Middlesex for a short time.

Sussex are bowling. Nice bright sky though so batting should be straightforward! :scared
Looks as if Steel will bat at 3.

Although the card from the club has Bancroft at 3. Don't suppose it makes much difference.

17-2 at one stage, but Bancroft and Harte have steadied the ship. Bangers in particular has been obdurate.... nearly an hour and a half for his 14 runs... which is what we have been lacking in recent times

I called in just before lunch and only saw a few overs before I had to nip into CLS. It looked tricky with a few false shots and gasps from bowler/slips. Back now and the first 2 overs after lunch seemed testing so I think they've done very well to hang in.

Harte gone and it looks very tough to score. Pitch seems ok just very accurate bowling. Got a bad feeling about this session!

I don't think Sussex have bowled any loose deliveries and it seems almost impossible to score runs. At some stage someone might have to chance their arm because the bowlers look like taking a wicket every ball.
And as I type Burnham goes for 0! 63/4 in the 43rd over!

Eckersley walking towards the ball - he'll be lbw if he's not careful!

Into the 43rd over and they've lost more wickets than scored boundaries!

Bancroft was looking settled but out just now to what looked like a loose shot. 97/5. I think the main thing is he spent some valuable time in the middle. Not sure what a workable score will be, 200 maybe if we bowl as well as Sussex but that'll take some getting!

Yep. Although Sussex have hardly bowled a bad ball, don't think I can remember so few scoring opportunities.
This will be kiss of death but Eckersley has looked fairly settled since I said he was about to be out lbw!
