I've been away from the scorecards all day

I was wondering if Stokesy would get much time in the middle before we declared, and slightly worried that we might postpone declarations and concede match winning opportunities solely to give him time in the middle, but it seems he didn't need a lot of time after all

please tell me we got 5 batting points during the course of this monster total

also good to see that Pottsy didn't give Worcs any time to settle

They aren't taking Stokes on and they aren't taking Potts on and they have to score runs somewhere, so there has never been a better opportunity for Rushy and Salisbury to take some wickets and find some kind of form

lets hope Capt Beaky doesn't decide/get told to (delete as appropriate) bat again for a long period on day 3 and expect to bowl out Worcs on the final day for a first win of the season

Stokes fell with one ball left in the over which Mr Ned negotiated. Then Bedders fell first ball of the next over so, with the score on 580, why bother sending out Treva before declaring 5 balls later with no runs added?

Those 5 balls were completely pointless because unlike in the previous over there was no set batter still at the crease. I did wonder briefly if it was to let Bedders walk off to the applause, but if anything Mr Ned and the Worcs players would probably have stood back and clapped him off as well, so the only reasons that I can come up with are that Capt Beaky was waiting to be told what to do or he was waiting for permission to do it...... both of which worry me

Exactly- we simply don't know how complicit Franklin is in these decisions.

Pottsy gets another 6fer

I see that Stokesy is bowling to Baker. I wonder if he's hoping that he'll get out trying to hit him for six in revenge. He has hit a four off him though... might have been an edge of course

Stokes did change bats yesterday. Seemingly he received a consignment of new bats and used 4 bats in his innings to try them out ahead of the England series

Didn't see any of the stream but we seemed to be making hard work of it. To be expected I suppose given the good conditions- but 8 down and the new ball after lunch.

Finally all out. Follow on not enforced, must just be to give the bowlers a rest?

The final Worcs pair took nearly 20 overs out of the game. Tea is in half an hour because of the innings turnaround and the lead is 290. Worcs will bowl as slowly as they can. Borthwick is too nervous of losing, so he'll want a min 400 lead to try and ensure Worcs don't chase anything down.

So very quick runs are the order of the day if we want 4 sessions to bowl them out, which would seem to be a minimum requirement for us this season

I reckon we'll bat for an unnecessary hour after tea and it probably won't occur to us to drop 'the wall' down the order, so we'd better hope that the openers get us a 400 lead in very short order and take the decision away or we'll probably end up drawing again unless Pottsy is on fire again in the second innings

well, we're bombing along at 8 an over, but that won't get us to 400 by tea, so they'll definitely bat on after tea
