I'm not opposed to the Aldridge deal if that goes ahead, but it's an odd one, unless it's predominantly with white ball in mind, given the young players we have beginning to come through. I remember after the Somerset game, listening to Dobell, Friend and Harmy all praising Killeen, Hogg and Minto. Dobell even went so far as to suggest that Hogg was an England bowler in the making. Hard to bring 3 bowlers through if we keep adding journeyman (no disrespect intended) bowlers like Aldridge to the squad

I just noticed that Yusf was bowling for SA against Zimbabwe earlier this month

Will Wagner be back in time for the next 2 Krap ball rounds?

something else I discovered, listening to Harmy..... most players come through the Club's pathway system, but not all. There is another route in association with Park View and run by Ash Thorpe, for 'late developers' missed by the pathway. One of those 3 bowlers came through that route. I think he said Killeen, but given his father's long association with the club, I've probably got that wrong and it was one of the others. Seemingly McKinney came through via that route too, so it's good that we have more than one system in place for identifying young talent

I remember reading something about that. Sounds like a good system.
Campbell said Wagner would miss 2 CC games but I wasn't sure if he meant he'd miss only 2 or at least 2. With our luck it's probably the latter.

Indeed

and I'm still trying to work out how 6 home T20's means that all the counties will play 13 matches. :hmmm

Maybe I should try to investigate the proposal a little more in order to understand, but I can't be @rsed, if I'm being honest

Anyway... this is just lip service, because we are not a member's club and what we think won't matter, but it might just get Bostock a job at the ECB, so nobody needs to be a rocket scientist to work out which way he'll get the club to vote. We are just names on the Durham Defender board, which ought to suggest who's opinion should matter the most, but I doubt anyone cares much which of those names are even still alive

Yes, ECB suggested for years that there's too much cricket- so in their infinite wisdom decided the solution was to invent a new competition.
My plan would be to go back to two divisions of 9 teams. That worked fine.

According to the BBC we have already indicated our favour for the 12 team div 1 model, the Bostock model, so the notion of having a members forum to discuss and agree any changes is just a pretence anyway.

Yusuf is back for the second half of the CC season, so guess that means no Wagner, unless Bedders is going to be away a lot

I reckon there'll be a fair few members who'll think the same

It didn't even occur to me that my membership wouldn't be good enough on its own. They've probably just reduced the crowd by 1 or 2 thousand

I can't remember for certain but think it was the same arrangement for the previous QF because I had the same thought- it's never going to be a sell out so seems self defeating to charge members.

Somerset confirming Kasey Aldridge is leaving despite being offered a new contract. Seems certain to sign for us - latest edition of The Cricketer says it's a done deal and also says Coughlin will be leaving.

feels like a long time since Coggers played for us. Might have been early in the season when Doggett wasn't yet available

Magazine also mentions Archie Bailey signing a 2 year deal. Has natural pace apparently and is expected to get quicker. So he's a 20 year old promising fast bowler signing for Durham- that can only mean one of two things - a stress fracture of the back in pre-season or during the first game!
