we should have given him a 2 year contract. As it turned out he was right and we were wrong. He left with my blessing and I'm usually pretty one-eyed about these things.

Yes, annoying to lose with a couple of bad overs near the end but I suppose 230 these days won't win many games and there have been a lot of positives from the games so far - Steel at the top of the order looks very promising, the bowlers have been generally good, Bancroft has shown he is a top class player and I think the main plus has been Lees - when he arrived late last season he looked very classy and he now seems to be proving he is. Although a run out always seens on the cards! Although it's usually the one at the other end who goes so Geoff Boycott would approve!

I've noticed that Ben Raine has bowled pretty miserly in this competition.... until he gets down to the death overs. Most of the boundaries that he's conceded (and he can't have conceded many) seem to have come in his last couple of overs, so perhaps he isn't the right person to be bowling at the death. Not sure Bunny had ever hit a six in his life before today, so for him to hit 2 in consecutive deliveries the balls must have been right there to hit.

Woody will hopefully change that in the last 2 matches, if we can score enough runs. His recent death overs in the WIndies were absolutely terrific..... gave nothing away

Traitor! No way. Excelled for years, and never let us down, playing a vital part in our success. If anything, he was let down by Durham. Still there's always Rimmington to fall back on...

It was tongue in cheek. Durham, I believe, offered him a provisional deal for the 2nd year which was perfectly reasonable. He was also demanding a coaching role- you can't just conjure them out of thin air. I can't help thinking his agent was the agent-provocateur. Can't believe he'd have wanted to disrupt his kids' schooling.

The deal Durham offered Bunny was a rolling one year deal, IIRC, which made sense from a Durham perspective given his injury record, but which didn't provide him with the security that he clearly wanted. I can understand both points of view. When Lancs offered him more security than we were prepared to offer it made sense for him to go and he went with my blessing and my thanks for all the years of excellent service he gave Durham. At the same time it was probably just too big a risk for Durham to award him a longer term deal (on a very healthy salary, I'd imagine) at a time when FTECB were screwing us to the floor.

Just couldn't find something that suited both sides, which sometimes happens in sport. One of those things.

Bunny staying fit and taking loads of div 1 wickets suggested that perhaps we should have had more faith in his fitness, but unfortunately our crystal ball was confiscated by FTECB as part of the punishment rescue deal

it'll be a bean counter thing..... force in an unnecessary break to give the punters every opportunity to spend more money before going home

I'm undecided whether Worcester are doing us a big favour here, or not

I suppose it depends on whether or not we beat the Notty's on Friday

It's entirely possible that this caning will provoke a big reaction from Notts just in time for our arrival

Yes, farcical to have a break and it arguably penalises the side on top. They have to effectively start their innings twice.
