Brilliant. White has confirmed in the post match interview that Gatting will get another chance in Ervine's absence (although he didn't specify in which format, it could be the four day vs Middlesex or the t20 vs Glamorgan).

Does White normally do the post match interviews? I noticed - on Twitter - that he has been speaking after play on a few recent occasions but I haven't heard anything from Benks lately.

He does them when things go badly ( maybe its only me that notices that though )

Vince chose to bowl, and the bowlers bowled crap..we were NEVER going to get close to that. Gatting was no worse than anyone else.

Totally agree Powelly , its the blithering idiot that picked him who ought to be getting the grief , what more for Daws , another going the same way as Batesy.

Hants seem to be losing their T20 grip. Don't seem to be the dominant force of recent years

Briggs and Carberry haven't performed regularly enough for us this season, and just like last season we're again showing that we're not the same force without Dimi and McKenzie as we were with them.

Oh, and in the two (or three?) games that Bird has played for us, he's proving to be a million miles behind Razzaq (2010), Afridi and Tahir (2011), Maxwell (2012), and Abbott (2014). We've basically played the whole group stage so far with only overseas player (Arafat), and that is a disadvantage/not what we're generally used to.

But that said, we did still win 5 of our first 7 games. And it really should have been 6 out of 7. These last two games though we've performed really poorly with bat and ball.

This season is fast going from poor to abysmal. The few half decent players we have got aren't performing and the rest just ain't up to it. Relegation and out in the group stages of the cup competitions seems the likely scenario.

We had our brief time doing well in the CC when Warne was around, then we had a period of doing well in the cup competitions, now we look like we're on for a few years doing nothing in anything.

I hope you're right, but I've got no confidence in this team performing in any format right now, and made worse by the presence of Gatting.

If Gatting is a straight swap for Ervine, then someone else will have to make way for Vince. Dawson or Terry most likely, but it's not unthinkable that it might be Briggs, given that Dawson picked up two wickets in the Somerset match, compared to Briggs' one.

That said, no team who picks Terry, Dawson AND Gatting all in their line-up should be allowed to call themselves a D1 team.

Big call to start Wheal. Yes we have batting problems coming out of our ears, but it shouldn't be forgotten that we have 25% more batting points than Durham, and they lead the Championship! If you can regularly take 20 wickets (and concede next to no runs in doing so), then how many runs you can (or can't) score hardly comes into it.

In the two games which we've given Wheal so far, his stats don't suggest that he's anywhere near good enough. And with no Ervine or Dawson this time, there's no opportunity to hide any of our front line bowlers if they don't perform.

Could be yet another game where our attack is Berg and nothing else.

Which is why Wood should of replaced Ervine.
