Yes, just looked as if he was arguing with the fielders before he trudged off. I think my worries that batting first was a risk were unfounded

Sowter is leaving MIddlesex at the end of the season it has been confirmed. I guess that means we have about a month to have a good old look at him. It presumably puts us in pole position to court him if we are interested

on the subject of player moves... Warks have notified Lancs and Worcs that they are going to make approaches for Mahmood and Moeen. Interestingly they have also expressed an interest in Ed Barnard who is in the last year of his contract. I seem to remember Marty saying something about Barnard having links to the northeast when we were at New Rd, but I can't remember what it was. Maybe he was born up here and moved south, I don't know, but he might well be the sort of player who'd interest us

which we aren't, really. We're bowling a bit too full and a bit too straight. Raine in particulr seems to be targeting leg stump, ball after ball, and he's going for a few now after a period where Worcs were a bit becalmed

Sowter has roots up here on his maternal side. Still has cousins up here. Bernard played for Burnopfield as a youngster iirc- father's job brought him here.

Yeh,certainly. I noticed yesterday when giving the high fives he had no bandage on any finger but appeared to be moving rather gingerly. Maybe it's his back that's the problem which Marty alluded to.
Any sign of Dickson?

The capt told me Bedders had been playing recently with a broken finger. Not sure where he heard it from

surprised we haven't thrown the ball to Ravindra. Apparently (Marty again) he was getting some very big turn in the nets. Borthwick has been having wrist injections, so bowling in this match feels to me like an unnecessary risk with little chance of reward and with other options not yet explored

Not heard anything.
I thought it would be tough going but 2 wickets in the day - both in the first session and one was the nightwatchman!
It looks like a near certain draw but the only thing that gives a glimmer of hope is that they're still 300 behind so still could get in trouble if - by some miracle we take a few quick wickets.
But 12 wickets in total approaching tea on day 2 tells it's own story!
