57/3 at lunch so not many runs scored or wickets taken. Must be a concern that Worcs digging in this morning and having 7 wickets left will pay dividends this afternoon as the ball softens and bowlers tire.
Although ,the other way of looking at it is , a couple of wickets will put them in bother again given they're still so far behind.

just keep at it, I suppose. Give them nothing to hit and try to pile the pressure on their batting. We don't have to go chasing after them yet.

As Athers might say....."try to win the small battles..... ugh, what's that gritty stuff in my pocket?"

As the oleaginous Mark Nicholas would say... "Wow... that's just the most sensational thing ever... what a moment... what a guy... has there ever been anybody better?"

as Michael Vaughan might say.... "smart move by the captain..... although the first ball's been smacked into the crowd, so maybe not so smart after all"

as Bumble might say.... "start the car"

Nasser H.... "wristy player, steely eyed"

Sir ITB.... "I don't really understand the state of play atm, so I'll just say anything that pops randomly into my head.... doesn't matter if it makes any sense or not"

blimey.... they've all been saying the same stuff for years, and years, and years.... no wonder i watch the highlights with the sound off

Definitely. A batting collapse in the second innings is highly likely so we need the insurance of a significant first innings lead. A 3 figure one with a bit of luck!

All of a sudden they seem to be scoring freely and the lead is down to around 150.

Ben Raine is the only one not getting a flogging, atm

I wonder if we can bowl him at both ends for a bit until the new ball becomes available?

and it continues

I reckon Worcs will have a lead by the time the new ball becomes available.

Wessels is going at a run a ball, yet only Burnham (54) and Bangers (42) of all the specialist batsmen, thus far, have got their SR's above 40

It looks as if the new balls with a less pronounced seam are making batting easier than in recent seasons. Had a feeling it would be bad news for us because our batting lineup is unlikely to make par scores let alone above par ones and the bowlers have struggled for years when it comes to finishing off sides so they'll find it even tougher now.
Still relatively early days but the evidence so far supports the theory that the batting can't take advantage of better conditions and the bowlers can't overcome those conditions.
A recipe for disaster!
