They seem to be doing reasonably well but the required rate is about 7 an over for the last 16, wickets in hand but if it's a slow pitch it might get tricky if it becomes any more demanding.

Excellent stand between Richo and Smith but they're both out now and I think we'll struggle-we'll blame Dixon!

Going down like a pack of cards now. From 177/3 to 224/9.

Make that 224 all out.
I'm not there so could have it wrong but everything suggested very tough batting conditions so Dixon's shocking finale has probably cost us the game.

After45.2 overs Notts 192-8
After45.3 overs Durham 207-7!
Dixon's bowling undoubtedly cost is the game but the blame lies with Latham for giving a paceman his full allocation on a slow wicket. Pringle bowled his full allocation economically yet Smith wasn't called on.

Yep. He doesn't seem to be a very good captain at all and has had a modest time with the bat-doesn't bode well for the T20's.
Still, after the start we had I seriously expected us to lose every game in the competition so , as you mentioned the other day , there has been a good improvement.

F.a.o. Lewis and Latham
Smith e.r.5.33
It's indifferent captaincy that is the primary cause of our disastrous white ball form.

I think Smith is probably our best spinner!

I agree

Smith and Colly ought to be our main T20 bowlers along with Rushy and, presumably, Rimmer. Woody should be nowhere near our T20 side and hopefully Dixon will have gone home by then.

I can't abide pace on the ball in T20, unless it is searing, hostile, up your nose or break your toes pace....... and we absolutely don't have any of that

dibbly, dobbly... you know it makes sense

just make sure we prepare the right surface for it.... I'll even pay for a couple of tons of sand to chuck on the wicket

Other thing today is with Colly out we were a specialist bowler down so it makes the decision not to use Smith at all even more inexplicable - the only excuse will be of he's got an injury but if he has why play him at all in a meaningless match - unless he was injured during the game which seems highly unlikely.
I wonder if Poynter's 170 the other week will ironically turn out to be a setback? There's a very good chance it was a fluke but we're obliged to pick him for a while on the back of it.

Smith was a massive part of our t20 bowling attack in 2014 and 2015 (less so in 2016; he leaked a lot of runs early on, and as an all round team we did awful for once, so he and others quickly made way for a bunch of kids).

Indeed, in 2015, you could argue that he wasn't even being picked as allrounder, he batted so low that we was effectively being picked just as a bowler. And an exceptionally useful one, at that.

Pace off. All about pace off.

I remember him doing well for you. Think when he was previously with Durham he used to often bowl the first over in T20 and then not be seen again!
Presumably a big reason he was brought back is because he has a lot of experience, he's getting runs now so will be feeling confident so it seems foolish not to utilise his bowling more. Then again our game plan in this tournament seemed to revolve around having someone renowned as a wonderful middle order batsman in one day cricket opening the batting for the first time in about 15 years when we tried it and quickly realised it didn't work!

I wonder why nobody else sees it?

FTECB don't want to see it, of course, because they want 200 plays 201 matches, and the fact that they usually get 200 plays 101 seems not to worry them... fair enough... they can hope for whatever they want, but any club led by a coach with half a brain won't ever give FTECB what they want, because it almost certainly won't be in the club's interest

we sadly are led by a coach who doesn't seem to have the requisite half a brain

we used to play Jennings in T20 and bat him at 9, so we shouldn't be surprised

thick as two short planks are Durham. No wonder we rarely get out of the group stages
