I assumed- given the weather- there would be runs galore. Wrong again, looks hard work. Struggling to hit it off the square. And more spinners in their attack...if required! At this rate Leach won't need any help!

Yes, Borthwick will no doubt be out now I've said it but he is the only one who looks capable of batting against the spinners.

he was excellent in the field earlier. He kept keeping two's down to one's.

Our catching was good too. At no point did it feel as though we would drop one

Alex Lees blaming the pitch! Said whoever won the toss would win the game...and the even worse news is they're using the same pitch on Friday! He didn't exactly sound best pleased about that - said something about hoping the groundsman has time to prepare a different surface or the toss will decide the result again!

nah..... they managed quite nicely. It isn't like they played on it for 2 days. sounds like an excuse to me

they're coming thick and fast now. If two of our top three don't make runs we collapse in a heap. It is not a good look

Problem with his comments will be if he wins the toss on Friday and we go on to lose the game. I don't know anything about pitches but we do seem to have had some unpredictable ones this year. Seem to be either totally flat or the other extreme- or both in the red ball Worcestershire game where the bowlers dominated for the first 3 innings then became ineffective in the 4th.

He had a veiled criticism of the umpires too. As you said his lbw looked a dubious decision and Ackermann looked nonplussed with his caught behind dismissal.

when Lees saw the finger go up, he turned around before looking again at the umpire and trudging off. He looked like he was doing the same thing as me.... checking to see if the bails had been knocked off or something, but of course they hadn't. It was a very 'woody' sound

Oh dear, Northants have won the toss! I wonder if it is the same pitch or if Lees's criticism has prompted a change. Don't know anything about pitch preparation or if it's possible to make such a late change.
