Ajit Agarkar was named as the chairman of the selection committee of Mumbai Cricket Association. Agarkar will head the selection committee for senior and U-23 teams. Apart from Agarkar, three others — Nilesh Kulkarni, Jatin Paranjape and Sunil More — will be part of the senior selection committee.

I can't help but think that the 'top 3' approach for the one day cup is flawed. While I'm sure it's nice to qualify straight for the semi's, Essex and Worcs go into them 'cold' after a few rounds of CC action, whilst their semi final opponents have just had a bit of winning practice a couple of days earlier in the quarter finals.

It'll be interesting to see if Notts and Sorry make the final at the expense of the group winners

I might be wrong, but didn't he once score something like 5 or 6 golden ducks in a row, around 99ish time in oz.

A fair point - one way of negating that momentum is to play the Quarter-Final tie 3/4 days after the Group Stage, if domestic fixture scheduling and TV commitments allow.

Live domestic cricket returns to BBC in 2020 (appropriately). Hate to be a misery... but it's a shame (for me) that this will happen in a competition I have no stake in. I'd rather it showed the 18 county T20 we have now and rate its chance of making a success of it. International highlights too. Good news though, i guess.

Yes Arthur, I am disappointed with the lack of County Cricket exposure on terrestrial television but the ECB clowns are banking on this City Based T20 lark and wouldn't want any County Cricket coverage to put it in jeproady.

Looks like i'll have to make most of this years T20 Blast campaign whlst Yorkshire are fielding their strongest squad in T20 history before it ends up as a 2nd rate competition.

Attracting youngsters to the game is not going to be achieved by screening free to air CC games. We need to reintroduce the game into schools using a significant proportion of the increased tv income to provide equipment and coaches into schools. Any increased funding to the counties should also be ring fenced for academy development and not spent to bring in more kolpaks. It's not coincidence that impoverished Durham have the largest academy expenditure.

Yes, I can't remember how many it was - and I am doubtful that they were all golden - but it is the main thing that he is remembered for down here.

I felt desperately sorry for him, as it was unfolding, but I also took delight in it, with him being one of "the enemy" at the time.

But it was his actually name, not reputation, that I was on about before. It is one of those names that I enjoy saying. (like ex-president of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono)

Years back now, when I was working in South Africa, staff I was working with might have had occasion to be peeved with me and would mutter away in either Zulu or Tswana. They'd get a shocked look on their faces when I blurted back things like "Javed Miandad Arjuna Ranatunga Zaheer Abbas Kapil Dev!"

It was good to see that those names still carried respect...
