Has looked back in good touch in the snatches I've seen of the live stream.
"It has been said of the unseen army of the dead, on their everlasting march, that when they are passing a rural cricket ground the Englishman falls out of the ranks for a moment to look over the gate and smile."

150 for Alastair Cook. Good (early) start to the season for him.

Pope seems to make big scores once he gets to a ton.

Good to see Paul Allot's motivational skills are in find fettle. Here's what the Lancashire cricket has to say about Haseeb Hahmeed: " We have our fingers crossed...He's got six months left on a contract and he's not scored a run for two years. Not only is he a million miles away from England, he's hanging on by his fingertips at Lancashire."

No doubt Haseeb will be feeling much better now after Allot's ringing endorsement!

Definitely. Everything Allott says is probably true but probably best not said in public...or Wisden!

Alviro Patterson wrote:Surprised Olivier has opted to sign a kolpak deal given his credentials have risen to a point he could bag a decent IPL deal and be an international player at the same time. Yorkshire did need another decent pace bowler in the rank with Brooks leaving for Somerset, while Bresnan and Patterson are entering the twilight of their careers, whereas Waite and Fisher have suffered long term injuries last year.

With how the county fixtures are scheduled, I think Yorkshire can manage without an overseas bat for the 1st two CC games and entire One Day Cup campaign. Makes more sense to get an overseas opener in Mid-May when they had a rest from international commitments and the World Cup squads are finalised.

5-16 for Waite yesterday. Admittedly against some students.

Looks like Sussex have acquired Pakistan paceman Mir Hamza for the whole season now, after he originally was meant to come just for a couple of matches in May.

Just debuted in tests a couple of months ago, and has a frankly crazy FC average (18 a wicket, but its Pakistan, so it wont translate much to county level considering the pitches in Pakistan are supposed to be terrible)....

Lets hope he can do some damage for us.

Preview of the season in Spin in a paragraph subtitled Pantomime Villains

"And finally, Colin Graves who is in his last year as ECB chairman and is bound to go quietly. Oh no he won’t …"

well will he? or won't he?
