Stupid criteria for an overseas player. IMO as long as a player plays in an overseas league, he can qualify as an overseas player. Why does he have to play a certain amount of internationals?

I'm confused by these regulations- Michael Klinger played early season for Worcestershire last season and is playing for Gloucestershire this year but hasn't played any international cricket. There must be a loophole in the system that some players are able to exploit-perhaps the restrictions don't apply to overseas players who are EU passport holders or something along those lines?

b. During the 24 months immediately prior to the date of the Governing Body Endorsement application

Just realised David Miller played for Durham in T20s during 2011, which triggers the 15 ODI/T20s clause. Thought those match clauses were for kolpak players only and any player can be made an overseas signing.

Think Miller will meet the criteria as he's recently got in the South Africa squad, who have an ODI against the Netherlands prior to the Champions Trophy. Even if the Sri Lanka tour of South Africa goes ahead Miller could still play half the T20 games and get back for finals day.

What a ridiculous rule, there is already a limit on the amount of overseas you are allowed, too then say who can and can't play as the overseas is pathetic.

Agreed, especially when the top England players hardly ever play county cricket and same applies to overseas international players- very few of them are available to play a full season.

I've never understood why the EBC have made these arbitrary rules over overseas players; I completely agree with the rules about Kolpaks mind.

England used to have a repuation of a finishing school for international talent, going to watch Lancashire league matches when I was much younger and seeing a West Indian destroying all that came was a treat to see.

If you can only have one overseas player, considering the international pressures on the top players to limit the pool even further makes zero sense.

A big clean out in Bushranger land is on the cards, as Andrew McDonald looks to move to South Australia. Aaron Finch looked like he was heading to NSW, although that seems to have been knocked on the head. Dan Christian is moving to Victoria.

Durham MCCU suffered a narrow defeat to Notts...lost by 541 runs :o Bound to raise further questions about whether these games should have first class status.

The first class debate is dangerous as every year we see some abject performances by the university sides but one or two gems, so there is never likely to be agreement I don't think.
