Surprise,surprise.

The County Championship being played as late as 30th September? That just can't be right. Even if it stays dry, the morning session will be affected by dew and the evening session affected by light.

As much as I like a 6 month County Cricket season, England just does not have the climate for it.

I would think like to think Ashley Giles and Chris Silverwood prefer window of County Championship cricket to be played during England's Limited Overs internationals in July.

Incredible.

Like it worked so well this year playing deep into September.

There's a guaranteed anticlimax to the season.

A couple of years ago at a Durham forum Jon Lewis said that the 2020 FC fixtures would be horrific with more games than ever before crammed in at either end of the season. Seems he was right!

Might get a round of County Championship Cricket during August Bank Holiday, but The Hundred and International schedule makes decent domestic scheduling difficult.

There is a possibility of the Blast reverting back to 3 groups of 6 (10 games). Though that won't please half the counties who are not hosting Hundred matches.

ECB management tried that ploy and counties rejected it- it wou!I'd have little effect on fixture congestion anyway. I see them curtailing CC fixtures to only playing each county once.Only temporary, however, - soon after Graves finishes as chairman the hundred will be ditched.

I have a feeling the hundred might meet some form of fake success that keeps it going. Most notably, the fact it is on free TV will boost it regardless of the terrible format; so that interest it might build up will be used to justify its existence, when pretty much any free sport on the Beeb would do the same. Had they just put the blast on regular TV, no doubt after 5 years it would be very popular.

Apparently from next year, counties have rights to sell non-televised county cricket games to media broadcasters. What the Counties should do is take a leaf out of Rugby League and have a streaming channel to show random games. Make it free of charge and add low key advertising. The BBC have managed to televised Ireland international cricket through connected TV so the technology is there to broadcast cricket. The likes of Free Sports and ITV would be interested in buying selected rights for a song.

Sounds very ECB. Negotiate a free to air deal that has little impact, rather than getting people involved in the tournament through the whole of it.

Apart from he sees it as a stepping stone to playing for England.

Never thought playing for Middx was an impediment.

According to the Cricketer
"Chris Rushworth is expected to remain at Durham despite interest from Nottinghamshire" but adds" a new fitness regime implemented by new coach James Franklin may not on face value been suited to a man still viewed as an old-school seamer" then goes on to describe Rushy's exemplary fitness record.
Steven Croft has turned down a 2year contract at Durham to remain at Lancs on a 1 year contact.
Surrey have offered new contracts to a number of players including Clark, Batty and Clarke.
Significantly not one to Borthwick
