county and domestic cricket around the world

Don't really see how this can be enforced to be honest. What constitutes "tapping up"?

I'd rather just see that any side that recruits a player off another county have to pay compensation based on the number of years a player has been part of a County's set up from Academy level up.

Yes, but in sport the talent contains all the value of the organisation, so rightfully its protected. Rather than compare it to head hunting, think of it being like a company stealing or manipulate another end product, or even the market as a whole - not accepted in business.

I'll take a huge example from football, Virgil Van Dijk, arguably one of the most sought after players in world football. He plays for Southampton, and as their asset he is not allowed to talk to other clubs about business interests until his club grant permission. This off-season it emerged that the player unwittingly announced he had been in secret talks with Liverpool where guarantees and contracts were discussed. This has a number of effects, mainly it prevents the selling club for getting true market value because the player has already decided where he wants to go and puts off other buyers from entering the race, the buying club in this instance using an illegal tactic to save themselves money and guarantee the player.

Van Dijk ended up refusing to train when Southampton, not wanting to be bullied when it all came out, told Liverpool to do one. So yes, its a huge problem and one that comes with advantages.

ITs entirely likely that bigger counties could interfere and bully players out of counties by revealing the riches on offer elsewhere. No one wants this; players refusing to play, etc.

A player who is in contract with another organisation has absolutely no reason to discuss business with another organisation.

Cricketers are paid for the skills they have to offer to the organisation who employ them and whether they represent the whole talent of the organisation, which perhaps the scouting, coaching , marketing and ground staff might question, they nevertheless surely have the same rights as any other employee to have the freedom of movement in their profession. Its pretty obvious that it's the increasing influence of agents that has caused this increase in poaching so it's how best to deal with this new situation. A rigid compensation system needs to be put in place which both the PCA and counties are in agreement with.

This post contradicts itself. Free movement of employees subject to compensation is not free movement at all.

You seem to be argue two points. If a player is an asset, then they should be treated differently. If they arent an asset and therefore treated as normal employees, then they should move freely, but also be bought?

Given your definition, Sussex, I really don't see how this is enforceable as it seems to rely entirely on someone doing a bad job of it.

It seems much simpler to just have a compensation system where clubs who have developed players are rewarded when they move on.

You appear to have misinterpeted my intended argument.

But 2 questions have been posed but neither have the question mark on completion. Not really important given that basic canons of English grammar appear to be ignored nowadays in all forms of the written media. Likewise my beginning of a sentence with a preposition was deliberate.
Pedantic and trivial!

I saw this earlier

I confess I'm not sure how a pitch can be doctored to suit 2 named bowlers. I can understand doctoring a pitch to favour spin, for example, but not specific bowlers

although, thinking about it.... I suppose the groundsman could take a rake to a bowlers favourite length, so that the ball jags about a bit

personally I'd have them all shot, but that isn't going to happen, so I'd put laws in place which make the agents pay the compensation to the clubs, out of their commissions.
