I watched him at the Riverside playing for Somerset. Didn't look like much... certainly not the destroyer of test teams he was advertised as. Then once he was back in a SA shirt he was rolling over batsmen again.

He struck me as being one of those players who struggles to get out of bed for a hum drum domestic game, but is first on the team bus for the glory games

Yeah. I remember fearing the worst only for him to pretty innocuous. Seem to remember him having problems with Somerset over workload issues or something. Think it was him anyway!

Rumour has it that its Somerset
"It has been said of the unseen army of the dead, on their everlasting march, that when they are passing a rural cricket ground the Englishman falls out of the ranks for a moment to look over the gate and smile."

That would be like carrying coals to Newcastle. My hometown boasts the best fish and chips in the country, Colman's.

Lots of incentives for new members there, then. Not only do they offer fewer games, but of the few that they do offer they move one to Scarbados, doubtless they'll move another to South Northumberland... what next.... America for the T20 Yorkie game?

There's a reason why I live right next door to my cricket ground.... and it isn't for the fun of travelling up and down the country to home matches

Tell the Scarborough festival to ssip off...... where was the top Yorkshireman when the ECB were shafting Durham? oh that's right... he was right in the middle of it :angry

Stuart Meaker has left Sorry a year early and signed for Sussex.

Having spent a lot of time working with our old friend Kevin 'mind the stress fracture' Shine, he has only been able to play in one CC game in the last 2 seasons. My guess would be that if anyone can get him bowling consistently, bowling well and bowling fast then it is Dizzy Gillespie. He was a 95mph bowler before Shine got his hands on him, according to the boffins at Loughborough who tested him. It'll be interesting to see how big his part in the 2020 CC campaign will be. 30 now, I think. Still got a few years in him yet. Could prove to be an excellent signing

rotate them.... keep them fresh!

they won't see Archer any time soon and they've lost Toppers to Sorry. Mills is only a T20 man, Jordan might be in and out depending on what work he can get from England, the IPL, Euromillions and Canadian T20's.

Last year the bulk of their bowling came from Ollie R, old man Weise and Chris the Rocket J, so they probably feel they could do with some cover. Mitch Clayden, for all he is a worthy cricketer has spent pretty much his whole career as a squad bowler and sometime white ball player, so he is unlikely to be the answer. They did sign Tommasen from Warks last year, but he is described as a burly all rounder... and he broke down within the month anyway.

I think it could be a good move for both parties
