Alauddin Babu has bowled the most expensive over in List A cricket. He was hit for 39 by Elton Chigumbura in a DPL game.

Yes, this came as a bit of a surprise. It's understandable, but maybe CSA feels that efforts to promote the game among black South Africans hasn't been successful and they are struggling to get players in to the team on merit.

What do you mean "understandable", its pure racism, if it was the other way round and rules against fielding a team of entirely black players it would be a massive issue.

I don't really believe in racism against black people. So that's a non starter for me. I'm not sure SA cricket has much of a future as a white sport. I think it's inevitable that they should look to field a more representative side.

surely you mean you don't believe is racism against white people.

If a white player is stopped from playing cricket, to accommodate a black player, based on anything other than skill, that is racism. ( and vice versa )

Yes, sorry, against white people. Or sexism against men. There might be a time in the future when it might happen though. To me it's like saying the poor can be prejudiced against the rich. It makes no sense.

Of course, SA cricket will be stronger if it can represent the whole country, and all SA feels that there is opportunity in the sport. To survive in the long term, their team has to change.

I presume SA thought that the quota system they used to have would have stimulated change, so teams could be picked on merit. But obviously not.

So you are saying black people are inferior to white people and women are inferior to men ??

I don't know where that comes from? I'm saying the power in most countries is held by groups of rich white men. They can discriminate against other groups because they have the means to disadvantage others. In a country like South Africa (or UK) groups of black people (or women, or poor) just don't have the influence to impede the progress of white people, and any attempt to redress that imbalance in power should be viewed positively and as a catalyst for social change.

Just my view.
