Legitimately gutted about this.

Such a talent and was such a hope to get Kent up this season.

After Adil Rashid, Alex Hales has now given up playing first class cricket.

I reckon Bayliss has been whispering in their ears while on tour. He definitely approves... I dislike players throwing all their eggs in one basket. England would still drop them like a stone, along with their incremental contacts. in a heartbeat. It's a really short career, so I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't want to maximise all their options.

I wonder who will be next?

Jordan? Plunkett?

I'm looking at players whose Test career didn't stick and they haven't much hope of getting back.

Both Plunkett and Willey are virtual white ball cricketers already, neither are 1st choice for Yorkshire in CC. Not sure Wood would be for Durham if all bowlers were available.

Bayliss is now working on his succession planning (which always feels a bit dynastic to me) and in his 'vote for T20 Farbrace...he's thinks the same way as me' interview he discussed Rashid and how too much cricket for players across all 3 formats forces them to specialise.

I thought that managing workload was one of the aims of central contracts?

County cricket will be dead within the 2020s. The franchise model will take over and probably become a 4 day knock out tournament, with the season starting late to accommodate IPL

Maybe Hales wants to give everything he can in getting a World Cup winners medal. Because England play LOIs against Australia and India back to back in June/July and Pakistan ODIs in May 2019 before the World Cup begins, it makes sense to put County Championship cricket on the back burner.

the NSW womens team won the national comp on the weekend - their 19th win in a competition that has been running for 22 years.

No slight domination, even in a comp with only 7 teams.

http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/100640/under-19-world-cup-rahul-dravids-request-for-pay-parity-accepted-by-bcci

Earlier this month, Dravid had conveyed his reservations about accepting INR 50 lakhs when other members of the backroom staff were being rewarded with INR 20 lakh each. On the other hand, players were expected to be paid in the range of INR 30 lakh each.

Dravid had reiterated the point of equal pay plan when he met BCCI CEO Rahul Johri on February 14. He had also expressed the the idea of paying those who had worked with the set-up previously but were not part of the just-concluded Under 19 World Cup.
