Yes. I don't know about legal matters but it would be terrible PR to sue a journalist and could also be very damaging for the ECB if any embarrassing details come to light during any legal action.

Mr Graves could well be shooting himself in the foot here. His "impartiality" is going to come under scrutiny.

Yep. Especially if any of the recently resigned board members appear for the defence!

Dobell works for Cricinfo..... Cricinfo are owned by Disney..... Disney are about to buy Fox and Sky..... Sky pay everyone's ECB wage......

Seems a very ECB move to make

Seriously though, this feels like a bit of a Trump v Mueller vibe where the truth is getting to close for comfort, so its time to try and bully the investigator into silence. I do think Dobell is quite partisan on the issue, but no less than most present on these boards. Dobell is winning my respect recently, I personally find his strive to make the ECB accountable to the cricketing public is a worthy crusade.

Yeah, seems my skim read of the article missed the "poised to sign". Pretty sure last month it was reported only two clubs were in discussions, and Yorkshire I believe pulled out.....

So its got to be Surrey, surely?
