Somerset announce an operating profit of £409k. A mild improvement on the year before, but a new club record nevertheless. Are they a bit like Isinbayeva in the pole vault?!

Nice to see Elton John is still doing his bit for county cricket.

In Bangladesh, Marshall Ayub and Mehrab Hossain jnr have put on 472* for the 5th wicket. They need 48 more to break the current world record which is currently held by Pujara and Jadeja.

"Sarah Taylor, the England wicketkeeper, has revealed that she is in talks to play men's second XI county cricket this summer in what would be a groundbreaking move for women's sport. Taylor, widely regarded as one of the best female cricketers in history, has an informal agreement with the coaching staff at Sussex that if their second team needs a wicketkeeper at short notice this year, she will be selected to play." http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2013/ja ... mens-match

This would be amazing if it happens. I really hope it does, she's more than good enough to hold her own in men's cricket.

An interesting article on Luke Pomersbach, who the other night powered the Brisbane Heat into the BBL final and Champions League qualification. For a man I once predicted would succeed Punter as Australia's number 3, it might not be too late for the flambotant left hander... or is it? He's 28. I reckon he's one big season away from a baggygreen.
