Jack Brooks leaving Yorkshire at the end of the season and has signed a 3 year deal with Somerset. Probably a good signing but he's 34 so there's an element of risk in a 3 year deal. Has he not had injury problems recently?

Played a good portion of last season with a niggle, hence not being as effective as in the County Championship winning seasons. Though pace not down, as Brooks has cranked it up during the Twenty20 Blast, vaguely remember fastest delivery touching 90mph in one of the televised games.

Brooks being a late developer into the County Cricket circuit may well have persuaded Somerset such a contract, quite a bold move considering the uncertainties surrounding The Hundred competition.

Also seems that Mark Ramprakash is inching ever closer to leaving the position of England batting coach.....we could do with new batsmen, let alone a coach...

well, Hallelujah

I joked when he was appointed that he hoped to bring the averages of all the England batsmen down to his own average of 36

far exceeded his own target by bringing them down to about 12

Is this where Colly gets his leg up?

Ramps' Test average was 27.3.

I saw one of his Test centuries, which feels a bit like being struck by lightning.
