Probably because Warwickshire will get promoted so he can't bat against us! I think he announced he was retiring either just before or just after the season started.

Reminds me of one of Brucie's finest jokes - the former tennis player Andrew Castle was a contestant and Forsyth introduced him as a former British number one ranked player then paused and added " Although at the time I was number two."

The other Middlesex one Roland-Jones never seems to have recovered from his spell with England. Think his season ending injury was diagnosed quite a while ago.

always tickles me when young rapid bowlers are touted as future England bowlers

they might be rapid now, but by the time England have 'helped them' with their development, they'll be military medium seamers who need to miss a season every other year because of injury
