be a shame if there wasn't and he had to content himself with playing for the seconds and filling in whenever Fletch is feeling a bit tired

There might not be room for him with Zac Chappell coming in - he seems to be a bowling all rounder. Although I think he's had injury problems too !

They 've signed a direct replacement for Coughlin! The implication is obvious, I'm afraid.

Just looking at the fast bowlers at Surrey, has any county so many? Don't see Plunkett getting much red ball cricket as only Sam Curran will be away with England.

Morkel, Dernbach, T Curran S Curran Clarke, McKerr, Meaker, Dunn, Atkinson, Plunkett (10)

That's an incredible squad. I think Plunkett is essentially a luxury signing that only they could afford.

Is Clarke staying?

Meaker and Dunn seem to be treading water. Might benefit from a move? Not sure I've heard their names this season.

I think Clarke has another year on his contract but I'm not certain.

Yes but only the 1st 5 names have been regulars this season. Both Curran's are likely to be involved with England and Clarke is 37 year old so there's certainly an argument for reinforcement. Whether Plunkett is the right choice is debatable given his likely involvement in IPL and the World Cup.

A pointless contract extension if Rashid plays in The Ashes, Yorkshire will be lucky to see any of him at all.

Stuart Law is leaving his post as West Indies coach and is taking over from Richard Scott as head coach at Middlesex. All 3 formats so Dan Vettori won't be returning as T20 coach.
